Tickets in advance from Ripping, Fopp, Tickets Scotland. £10 in advance £12 on the door. featuring LUKE VIBERT / WAGON CHRIST (Warp, Rephlex, Ninja Tune, Mo'Wax)live laptop set MIKE PARADINAS / MU-ZIQ (Planet Mu) DJ Set and residents BRIAN D'SOUZA, DIRTY, DR AIR, DJ KRUX Two seminal figures on the underground music scene, merelycasting a glance at the record labels associated with LukeVibert and Mike Paradinas indicates the high regard in whichthese two are kept. Luke Vibert has assumed the limelightrecently with a plethora of releases over the past year orso. His second longplayer on Ninja Tune, named 'Sorry I madeyou lush', under the guise of Wagon Christ was released thismonth to critcal acclaim. A quirky hip hop album, in whichLuke shows his sense of humour combined with second to noneproduction skills. This release follows the albums 'KerrierDistrict' released on Aphex Twin's Rephlex label and hisdebut album on Warp records named 'YosepH'. Whilst KerrierDistrict kept dance floors moving with some proper discotinged with some trademark acid sounds, YosepH expressed tothe full Luke's love of the acid sound and gave Warp one ofits many success stories of last year. Luke set in edinburghwill combine the best bits of his many different stylesplayed live through his laptop. If this wasn't enough, Luke requested that we also bring uphis pal Mike Paradinas along for some fun too. The head andfounder of Planet Mu records, this is a man who is at theforefront of the cutting edge electronic scene. Withcritical acclaim from his first releases on Rephlex and Warpback in 1993, Mike was signed to Virgin who allowed his mucito be exposed to a much wider audience. Releases such as'Lunatic Harness' and 'Royal Astronomy', his 18th fulllength release, brought him critical and world wide acclaimand landed him a slot supporting Bjork (no less) on herHomogenic world tour as well as headline gigs world wide inhis own right.The two will be playing a combined set for a minimum of 3hours. As they are good friends we expect them to throwmaybe a few surprises in what promises to be as unique aperformance as you have seen all year. Support is from the talented residents team who are freshfrom gigs nationwide and in Europe. Recent support slotshave scene them alongside names such as The Hacker, Plaid,Transparent Sound etc. |
