Apparently Otto von Schirach did one of the most exiting live acts at this year´s Alive festival in Belguim (St. Vith)... got there too late so I missed out. But I can highly recommend Alive - they really push the envelope - it´s a lovely little festival full of music lovers.

I played one of his tracks from the latest CD of his... Schirach is very poorly written on the cover art so for the first while I made a fool of myself trying to stumble through how it was written. For a month after the first time i played it, people called in every show to request it. What's nice about the album, (and People Like Us' recyclopaedia britannica album), is that there are so many tracks to pick from. "Sasquatch...[something]" is one of my favourites.
I didn't like the 8000 BC album as much. Just a bit too abstract. Whoever mentioned his new stuff, it was not clear: what label is the new album on, when's it out, and what is the title going to be... (i'm being lazy). Swizz:le ferris |

ferris: peroxide mocha in yer top 3?
did you check out People Like Us when she toured a few months back? saw otto von and phoenecia in portland at hipster central (aka the blackbird) and it was an excellent show. otto had sound card troubles but played some down right mindfuck stuff that had oregonians just standing beside themselves. thought 8000 B.C. was just beyond anything else. |

Tomas Jirku
Otto and 8000BC... maybe I have the albums confused... I liked the newest album not the older one which ever that may be. I will re-approach the older one though with more ear.
hehe, i just looked at my top three: tomas jirku is on there solely for his EP with "Jump" "Stop" tracks on it. I don't really know much else of his... but I have just listened to his album with all the thermodynamics terms as track names. not what I expected. The tracks are all minimal experimental. (does "experimental" refer to the application of the scientific method?). The EP I have is great, weirded out and has a guhd funk to it... shit thing is that its damaged, grr. ferrios |
