Going to Germany!
Looks Like I'm making a Quick trip to Germany later this month. I'll be In Munich for two days, Liepzig for one day (gaming industry show), and then to Berlin for a SAT night.
Can anyone give me some ideas for Record stores, and Clubs I should check out?? Never been to Germany, I'm fucking stoked! Thanks! |

Cool thanks Ian!
I was considering Tresor. Yeah I'm taking the Mac, but if someone tries to take it, they will get DAS BOOT, and I'm not talkiing about a boat. I'm sure it will be cool, I'm just stoked to pick up some records, and check the scene. |

the tresor line up isn't good this month. go check at www.tresorberlin.de as for record stores go and have a look at angry plastics (for the wilder stuff) and hardwax. |

Thanks for the Heads Up! I appreciate it
It looks like i will get to Germany on the 17th and leave on the 22nd. Very short trip, but I'm going to make the most of it. Jukka, yeah the tresor lineup looks a bit weak on the day i'm going to be there, any alternatives?? Thanks guys! |

tresor's got this newcomer thingy every saturday now, so not really interesting stuff going on. I'll do an oldschool house set upstairs at globus on the 21st. I can put you on the guestlist if you wanted to check out the club anyway. let me know...
what else? 'maria am ufer' is quite a cool club. I think there's some shitkatapult stuff going on that weekend. check their program here: http://www.clubmaria.de |

Hardwax was great, i reccommend checking that out.
i remember there being a cool little bar on Lychenerstrasee\Lettestrasse that had white curtains in the window and a mounted deer head on the wall. anyone know of this place? really good beer, i remember. if you take the underground U2 line to Pankow and get off at Eberswalderstrasse, its near there, i believe. |

yeah lester's a cool dude - me and the greek guy (owner of optimal afaik) go way back, the first time I was at optimal some time in the late nineties he shouted at me to listen to the records more slowly, I wouldn't be able to pick out any quality choons anyhow and I was wearing down the grooves hahaha the second time I made the major mistake of asking if I could pay with travellers cheques, didn't ask him directly, mind you, but the salesperson I asked had him come over, and he said it's ok. I came back two days later, and all hell broke loose hehe. turns out they had to pay a fee at their bank for turning in the cheque, I never heard the end of it. best was a friend of mine who was asking for some hiphop tips, the el greko just turned around and walked away! |

Clubs to check out (their websites give directions and a listing of what's on):
Watergate (really big club, two floors, I saw Hawtin and Vilallobos here, and also DJ Hell and loads of Gigolo records people some other night) http://www.water-gate.de/program/index.html Tresor (surprisingly dingy basement club, but it's pretty history in the techno world) http://www.tresorberlin.de/ Ms Edelweiss (this is actually a barge, it's small but such a cool venue) http://www.edelweissberlin.de/ Club Maria (across the river from the Ms Edelweiss, nice dirty warehouse feel) http://www.clubmaria.de/ As for record shops, I actually never made it to any record shops while I was over there as I was always out drinking or something. But I wanted to go to Hard Wax (http://www.hardwax.com/) because apparently it's really good. Pete from Scion works there! |
