Gravehurst
The last Warp goes back to a kind of sixties folk guitar music. (Whaaat?) Gravehurst's Flashlight Seasons has struck me for guitar sound, some beautiful synth-keys lines, but there's still something that doesn't convince me, the voice. What you think ?
Anyway, on July the 10th I'll go to Notting Hill Arts Club for his live show.., then my final response... |

i saw gravenhurst last year in a tiny pub basement in farringdon.. it was his lable Silent Age records who put the night on.. about 9 people in attendance..i think Beans was doing his uk debut in cargo that night in fact...anyway it was good.. ill probly get the album..
it wasnt amazing tho. the guy ..nick talbot i think.. finished the night with his electronic duo called bront industries kapital or something.. very lofi.. nothing that great but all made in good DIY spirit... gravenhurst were just acoustic/vocal and very sparse percussion kit |

I think going MTV for getting a bigger audience and try to promote/sell records is good, there's a huge market out there. Maybe the channel had gone completely bad. I remember a few years ago, when "Latin" MTV had very good shows, Just to mention a few Raizonica, Headbangers Ball, Ozono, etc.
I also don't think Britney's Fans will now listen to Squarepusher, or why not ??? But everything on this kind of record labels is almost made for people who is really into this kind of music. And of course, all of us who like druggs !! : ) Just what I think |

Realising records like the Double Gone Chapel or Flashlight Seasons does not mean going to MTV. These records have poetry, soul behind and are not easy to listen to. Nothing to do with cheese.
Warp is successfully enlarging its audience, refreshing its core and finding new stimulations to make quality uncompromised music. |
