hi can anyone give me a good name of a good hostel in amsterdam. maybe one you already went to so i will know what its like.
friends of mine went to one last year and it was totallly shit. nice piks on the net but it was tottallly horrible when they went in.

gordi - sorry I didn't get a chance to elaborate.

The flying pig is a decent hostel, but don't stop your search at that suggestion.

I personally like these options:

www.citymundo.com (not for THIS trip, I would imagine, but worth keeping in mind for the future <-- SERIOUSLY check this, best kept secret around).


Post this question in the Channel's Amsterdam forum (at my previous link). They also have a review section, but they are more hotel centric unless you know names to hunt.

www.eurotrip.com has some hostel reviews for the Dam.

http://www.xs4all.nl/~getlucky/adam.html is a rad guesthouse, but I'm not sure if that is what you're looking for.

im just back and had an amaazing time staying in the cabins in a campsite just outside of a'dam called vliegenbos
its about 60€ per night and sleeps four in two bunks
they have a website
good clean toilet and shower facilities, nearby shop etc..
its about 12€ into the city in a taxi or 2.40€ on the bus

dont forget to check vaaghuyzen. i always tell people to go there. when i was living im amsterdam i used to play there. they have djs everyday and the athmosphere is really great.
also well choice of djs they have.
