yes, Cristian Vogel and Pablo Fiasco aka Geoff Johnston have worked with Sala!
I'm sure Cristian or Emma can tell the story better than I ![]() this is my favourite 'techno guide' on the web. http://www.intuitivemusic.com/tguideoskarsala.html |

Edgar Varese wrote pieces for the Theremin in the 30's as well... although is that an 'electric' instrument rather than 'electronic'?

the theremin is generally regarded as the first synthesiser, and so u could feasibly say of it that it's an 'electric' or an 'electronic' instrument, although i personally refer to it as an electronic instrument.

thx for the link IP.
i think it makes no difference whether it`s 'electric' or electronic-IMO it`s a matter of making the sound in non-acoustic(non-mechanic) way. BTW.i`ve heard that there`s VST plugin emulating Thermenovox(Theremin)...do you know anything more `bout it? |

Well unless they include the minimalists (Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Terry Riley etc), Stockhausen, John Cage, David Tudor, Bob Moog, Delia Derbyshire (and the rest of the BBC Radiophonic workshop), Walter/Wendy Carlos, Jean-Jacques Perry, The Silver Apples etc etc - all pre-Kraftwerk artists, then it's all a bit silly.

Yeah yeah, turn your noses up at, as it's not completely accurate, however whether she is the "Godmother" or not, she's CERTAINLY had a major influence on things, musical and electronic. CUmmon, how many of you don't get a VERY particular sensation every time you hear the theme from Dr. Who, the original one. All the wierd little gurgles and shit, and that swirling vortex noise of the time corridor and stuff....CUMMON!!
You cannot deny that that shit was THE BOMB back in the day. She was way out there. If she was alive today, I would have been honored to sned her a message of thanks, recognition, respect and admiration, because I know and admit freely that without either of us knowing each other, she had a MASSIVE impact upon my life, and my musical interests and tastes. I would not be who I am without having listened to her work. I don't know about the rest of you. Whether the honors bestowed by the media are accurate or not, she still had significance, and and made a wonderful contribution to the world. Rather nice interview with her that is as old as I am, and you can hear clearly how unpretentious, and sweet she was. It is quite tragic that she didn't receive more respect from the electronic musical community before she died. Ape |

The first album I ever bought was "BBC Science Fiction Sound Effects Volume I". Seriously. I think I was always destined to be a techno dork.

wrong thread.
![]() steev, sounds like pongoid feels passionately about IT...and .'. not what i'd call anger as such which would look more like someone declaring that they want to rip your head off and fill it full of snakes..or something like that, and i just didn't get that from his post.
