I must admit I'm pretty uninformed of the whole EU thing. How do you view the expansion or the EU in general? Do you see it as a good thing or a bad thing?

i like bombastic shows but hearing that the EU spent millions of euros on letting the guy realising this event (and another one in berlin) makes me quite sceptical. lookin at the current situation, the money could probably spent in a better manner, i would've preferred a lasting piece of art at least. also note that the show is only necessary because so many people are sceptical about the EU extension itself. trying to convince them like this is a bit shallow and somehow reminds me of totalitarian methods...

I think it's excellent!!! Just wanna buy me place in Croatia now before they get confirmation and the prices go up more. Maybe Montenegro tho but seems a little less settled than Croatia.

anyways what are the advantages to joining a group who's leaders can't explain the advantages to joining such a group.
other than the no borders thingy.

the EU seems very much like the United States, a collection of states under the umbrella of large central government, they've done away with the borders, how long before they do away with the governments of each country. "sorry you won't be needing a foreign secretary anymore, we'll handle that"

its like Europe finally got tried of watching its baby grow up and become successful and now they're like "oh shit, the experiment worked lets apply the same method at home."

anyways congrats (i guess)to the new members, live long and prosper.

>>>"oh shit, the experiment worked lets apply the same method at home." <<<

i dunno if you could say it worked, could you?

or that it was an experiment...USA develped out of religious
isolation and commerce mainly. i don't think there was any master plan for where the roots are - too many counrties have a part to say in the origins of the USA national identity.

and the big difference in europe is that we have a lot more history as individual nations... I'm not saying this makes us better though, it's just what makes the difference.

didn't mean to offend i was 1/2 joking
i've always thought of the US as a big experiment
throw a bunch of people from extremly diverse backgrounds and make them build a nation
sounds like bad reality tv

for the most part we haven't self-destructed but we're always on the edge. anways the concept of behind the EU ( the visible one, different countries coming together to share in each others economic success or failure) in neet, if not a little vague.

hmmmm i'm playing tonight maybe i'll have a EU coming out party,
have to make some banners.
peace

Now your national government is the equivalent of the lcoal council...

Yes, yes, yes, more government apparatus - I hear that under a new scheme each and every citizen of the EU will have their own representative, who they will have to house, cook and clean for and in return they will go off to the castle and represent your views...

the city of munich has more bureaucrats working for it alone than the entire eu apparatus, so things are relatively lean...

castles are overrated, spent two weeks in one some years ago, the bathrooms are tiny unless you are really short.
