Reaktor/Cubase consumption

Hello all.
My first post on this luvverly new board!
Can anyone help me with a reaktor 3 issue?

I'm using it with Cubase and after using an ensemble which uses, say, 25% CPU power for more than about 10 minutes - the powers soars up to sometimes over 70%!
This renders Cubase extremely slow, and I have to restart

ad-vance-thanx...

guess this can be everything from hardware problems to driver conflicts. why don't you get in touch with native instruments, they have a very good support.

those %-numbers refer to the cpu load indicator in reaktor vst only ? or also in cubase' own one ? hmm i have no problem running those 2 stable with cubase indicating 80-90% load, never needed to restart because of this. it might indeed be a not-so-perfect soundcard driver ? if it's too many voices and too many vsti's and tracks i get dropouts but not a cubase crash.

I was reffering to the % indicator in reaktor, although Cubase's own performance meter also goes through the roof when this happens. Also I should point out that Cubase does not actually crash, it just slows down to a very sluggish pace. I have found that by re-loading the ensemble causing the problem, the CPU meter drops back down - albeit temporarily. I'm using the ASIO driver for an EMU APS (!) maybe thats my problem.

anyhoo cheers CS

i have PIII 733 with 128Mb Ram and i don't have any problems runnig Cubase and Reaktor together. My guess is that you use SBLive - try to install original drivers, not EMU APS. Check if you have other programs runnig, if so - remove them. Check fragmentation of your hard drive.

Thanx Will-O.
I am actually using an APS (hard to beleive it's true) - it's ASIO only runs at 48khz, maybe reaktor duznt like this rate?

Oh woe is me, looks like I need a new soundcard but I don't want to get one only to find that it was not my old EMU giving me shit in the first place -thatz why i'm making such a mess here!

Strange, In this configuration, Cubase + Reaktor should fly like an eagle, if you still have this problem try to format your hd and install system again, yes i know, it's hard to do it but it should help (at least in theory)

Say homeboy, sounds like a driver problem. Cubase will get pissy on you though, who knows it could be a STEINBERG software malfunction with your disk. Driver conflicts, probably. I dont run CB with anything but plugins so i would not know but i have never had CPU power problems. Hoped I helped.
