Not looking for the build-in keyboards (alreday have orange vocoder).

The VST vocoder can do that - comes as a effect in cubase SX, just link the Vocoder to a midi track and you can play it and edit in piano roll.
Cubase 5 offers it as well.

yeah try something ... but i think that the first versions of the orange had no MIDI Note control .. could be that this is the problem

the new cubase is nice ... a lot better then the first sx version. i haven't updated yet, but i have to, soon as possible.

... it's a little bit different then sx 1, with some new nice functions that make the workflow better. now you can finally move your automation data together with the event yahoo !

no ... ain't that stupid ?
i'm thinking the whole time to change to logic, i'm doin now a project with a friend who only uses logic and i need my time to change. you can't really beat logic's MIDI possibilities. but this stupid deal with macintosh is annoying me.

hehehe ... seems like that
what i like about cubase is that it's easier for working fast, i had a flow with cubase one week after installing it and logic takes time (for me). but the MIDI enviroment in logic is just cool shit ... as i play also drums in a band i could build myself an dynamic enviroment in logic for e-drums with modulation and hell knows what else i got in my mind ... at the end: maybe i'll use both ?

you can move automation data with events in sx1.
just draw a box around the automation and the loop and copy.

no, it doesn't really work. when you have for example an modulation on the last three 1/16 of your bar. and you want to copy exactly that automation, then it copies the last maximum data to the beginning of the next bar, its' totaly absurd. when you copy automation data in pro tools or others then he copies it exactly like you had it in the bar before, you don't have to draw an extra point on the beginning of the bar ... know what i mean ? in sx2 it's cool, when you duplicate an event, he automaticly duplicates the same automation data ... that's the way it should be.

i haven`t used protools or sx2, i dont really see what you mean about the automation, i copy automation data in every track i write in sx1 and i dont have the problem you are talking about, i get perfect copies every time i want them, sure, sometimes you have to put hitpoints at the start and the end of the part to make sure the automation works exactly how you want it to, but that takes about a second to do , so i dont see how you can call that method absurd.
i had never even given it a second thought till you posted that sx1 automation couldn`t be copied.

hm ... for my needs it doesn't really work how it should and i talked with a lot of people about the same problem. but, nevermind, now with sx2 it works how i imagine it and that's all.

uh ...
there also another big problem, it doesn't annoy me, but all the panther users. there a bad bug when you use sx2 with panther together: all the knobs dissapear.
i'm getting more and more sympathy for logic.

hey ruben, i thought you had a nord mod?
i just got a micro mod and i`m quite liking the vocoder on there for my sci-fi moments
being able to play melody on the keyboard is something i never managed to do with software vocoders.

I´m done with hardware...!!! no $...
And besides, software rocks soooo much - never thought it could be this fun! weeweeeeeee but yes, I made some experiences with nord and a mic aswell. hahaha whata laugh. you can easily make you own mensch-machine! hihi

but yes, it´s terrible.. I wanna play melodies with my voice in software aswell.. hahahhrhrhrrrrr... heard cubase makes a vocoder that can. Must have it.

(no, don´t look forward to my singing. Even with vocoder it´s horrible!! muhaha)

the cool thing about the cubase vocoder is that you can combine it with any vst synth you want. you can use the osc's of the fm7 or absynth or whatever and play it with the cubase vocoder. that's pretty cool.

you mean use it for carrier signal? ah, that´s quite normal. But is this the way you play with the vocoder!?
