What exactly does Dr Pepper taste like and how would quantify either sensations as being real?
Debating the relative merits of 'real' soda over its diet varieties strikes me as being akin to debating the pros and cons of various methods of suicide... I mean personally, it been pretty obvious that Coca Cola never made any attempt to make Diet Coke taste anything like Full fat coke, so much so that I think they should rebrand the two drinks a thus... Man's Coke (red label, white writing - full sugar - normal caffiene) Girl's Coke (pink label, silver writing - no sugar - triple caffiene) |

i think the main point of the qibla cola (and the mecca cola) is that of breaking the global domination of such products as coca-cola - and as such, putting out a drink that will appeal to the Islamic / Moslem population of the world is a good means of targetting a specific audience. As people already realise there is quite a lot of ill - feelings towards the west, and especially the USA within the Islamic / Moslem world, so by boycotting a brand it is possible to effect the economics of a country.

well this is just my kind of rubbish to be reading on a monday.
dr pepper tastes like a strange tingly mixture of coke and nailvarnish. normal coke makes your teeth feel funny. diet coke is a clean hit, strangely devoid of real taste though. so after a while of drinking all different sort of cans you end up on bottles of water. and what's that all about at 50p a go or whatever. i mean it would of course make more sense to fill up a bottle from the tap before you went out. could even have hi-juice squash in it. though it'd probly leak like when you were at school and it made your bag all sticky. dr pepper. has it got peppers in obviously not but it does have tht hot thing happening. |

coke tried making diet coke taste like real coke, but the sweeteners used were made illegal in europe. I love diet coke best of all, fsck coke light.
There is of course also the old adage that you can't get something for nothing, in this case something being "sugar" and nothing being "no calories"... I don't think that a company the magnitude of Coca-Cola and under such legendary pressure by competitors (i.e. Pepsi-Cola, "the cola wars") "didn't try", in any business area. I specifically don't like non-light soft drinks because of the incredible sweetness of the taste and the aftertaste. ........................... Dawn appeared, fresh and rosy fingered |

Its not about boycotting a brand. its about hatred of the west. And making a rival cola is just the most rediculous way of doing it. And dont forget the quibla cola folk are just as much shrewd buisnessmen than the coke people. IMHO there is no 'global domination', its a bloody drink. its encourages hate and its about money. In that program last night, there was a look at the history of Coca-Cola - and how that during the second world war they set up a large number of manufacturing plants across the globe so that "they could allow their troops to drink the coca-cola brand" - so at that point Coca-Cola was using War as a means to place themselves into positions that would allow them to dominate the world market. The fact that a very small number of multinational companies produce a large percentage of the global products, I would say, goes to show how there is indeed a global domination of these huge companies. I am not saying I agree or disagree with what qibla cola are doing (and also mecca cola), I am just saying that it looks like it could be an effective means to battle a country - not all war is faught through soldiers and traditional fighting - there are other means to "get at" your "enemies". Both the qibla and the mecca cola companies claim that they give a percentage of their profits to "good causes". |

I think a marketing strategy based on hating the west and everything about it is a lot worse than a marketing strategy based on attractive young people having fun. There is no message or fight, its a marketing ploy based on hate which frankly i cannot stand. quibla cola does not benifit the world in any way except the people selling it and i think the donations to the palistinians is just a way to somehow ligitimise their frankly disgusting marketing strategy. its marketing an image in the same way coke does except that image is hatred and nothing else. There is something fundimentally wrong if a whole section of the population hate the west so much they allow a shiity sugar filled drink become a weapon. funny thing was i thought it was a good idea until a watched the programme. then i just realised they are all the same. |
