Erutofon v1 or v0.01?
I've long wondered why the Mosquito and Rise+robots links at the top of the page doesn't do much aside from reload the mainpage? Is this intentional or is this site still in development?
It matters little to me either way, aside form the fact that a dedicated mosquito / RRR sites would be very nice. If this was the "end all - be all" of it, well.. I'd also be happy, as this site is very pleasent (aside from the fact it has always been hard to find the cursor symbol on this shade of greyish green). I liked the first site the best in regards to content (the white one, not the blue one), or at least that wonderful essay on the history and mentality of no-future. It really should be placed back up. |

thanks mdk - if there's something that can be farmed out , i'll get in touch!
i think you did help me out back when I was stuck on that php syntax stuff - i finally got the little hack working to pull info from our FTP and post it in a message - and then we had to close the FTP server about 2 weeks later... typical... |

i found it on my harddrive...
Mosquito Records was set up by Cristian Vogel and Si Begg in 1994. Both producers had recently had their debut releases (in Vogel`s case on Brighton label Magnetic North; Begg`s as a collaboration with Vogel as Inevitech on Mainz`s Trope label). Setting up their own label seemed to be the next logical step, enabling them to release their own and friends` music. Since then, Mosquito has consistenly released the newest and freshest UK techno talent, with the majority of its eleven releases so far being debuts. Described as a `cult label` by Wax magazine and always played by John Peel on his Radio One show (in fact a recent picture of Mr. Peel in NME showed him holding MSQ 009!), Mosquito is nevertheless a label that doesn`t ever try too hard. The release schedule is slow, only in 1997 getting above the two per year mark, and the amount pressed is low (generally no more than 1500 copies of each), making the releases always much in demand but tricky to find. Quality not quantity, as Free Wheelin' Franklin' might say. |

this's also nice:
Super Collider was officially formed in February 1998, as a result of the first collaborative music sessions conducted by Cristian Vogel and Jamie Lidell at the No Future studio towards the end of 1997. The first two collaborative productions seemed to point to a new, and unfamiliar direction in music, some kind of white hot melting point of rapidly intersecting moments in sound and style, over time. Due to the resulting confused stylistic-nature contained within those two early experiments, "Darn (Cold Way of Lovin')" and "Under my Nose", Cristian and Jamie felt the need to consult a third party about the aesthetical value of the tracks. The recordings were passed on informally to Tim Jeffry, JC and Damien Harris at the Loaded/Skint offices (just over the road from the No Future Offices) and they all seemed to perceive the music to be of important value. So, after a few drinking sessions, a deal was struck and Super Collider was commissioned to make a full length LP due for release in Summer 98. Upon signing Super Collider to Loaded, No Future released the following statement:: "Ok guys.....nice......After going away and thinking about the project involving Cristian Vogel and Jamie Lidell,we have put down our plans in writing for your reference. We are all very excited about the chance to make this sound come alive with the proposed album project. We are also happy that the music has come into the welcoming arms of the Loaded stable - obviously, being able to work closely with another well experienced music organisation in the same town is a unique chance, and already bodes well. The spirit of collaboration and co-operation with mutual interests is a rare and virtuous incentive. IĆ*m sure that healthy roots like this will be perceived and enjoyed by all music lovers. Maybe, with this in mind, No Future would like to collaborate on the packaging and design work with our good friends Red Design. Red and No Future have a great deal of respect for each others work - and it would be great if they could collaborate. Also, I would like to mention that we are quite a contained little unit, with fingers in many pies. One of them is video production - especially computer based editing and imaging - our last two in house productions (for Tresor records) were shown on MTV many times and also screened at the Sonar multimedia festival in Barcelona. So this area is something we are also keen on getting involved with.... As for PR on Cristian or Jamie, bios / discos / digimedia / websites / internet presence / interviews etc, we have the wonderful Emma in place to help you out. Just drop her a line if you need anything to do with PR management." And thats the way it goes. Experiments will be continued. Please await the results. |

That wasn't it.
The one I was referencing talked about no-future's roots to the early UK punk scene ethic, and the formation of a loosely based collective of artist under the banner of in-your-face experimentalism. It talked about matt consume and (cristian ?) meeting in some club, and a reference to 1977. Well.. something like that. It's all pretty foggy now, but this was WAY before S_C was even a twinkle in Cristian and Jamie's eye (well, far before the release of the first album). It was more of a manifesto..
