Oh man!
he's even put up Zoids by Rob Hubbard - from the Commodore 64 !!! this is the coolest documentation of the scene i think i've ever read.. particularly liked the phrase ' acid that kicks your ass so hard you'll be shitting shoes for a month' |

I tried to draw a map like that once when I was about 17 and doing too much acid, but it expanded and expanded right back to slavery bringing west african rhythms into America and even further back to Arabic mathematics being imported to Europe allowing the enlightenment, new instruments, baroque music etc etc. Then I lost it (the map and the plot)

that may all be true but what he writes about the only genre i'm really well-informed about is... not very adequate. if you don't know anything about EBM please don't take either the description nor the sound bits for EBM for real... 2 of the sound clips are from horrible 90s bands (when EBM became trance+shouts) and the other 2 are taken from early 90s albums of 80s acts. at the same time he mentions EBM is an 80s genre - which is of course true. but the acts mentioned in the text are also really a strange choice. and why isn't industrial (in the european sense) electronic music?

Think this guy spins a lot of Drumcode? I think so... I agree about the EBM - he should have some Fixmer or something similar up there. It should also be under techno and not trance, yes? Quote:
Oh man - did anyone see the line about 'Best Club Anthems Ever' being the musical equivalent of junk food? Brilliant. |

hmm didn't think of it - i tend to get a bit rude when people give EBM a bad name by offering soundbits from 90s crap bands like "Icon Of Coil" or "Apoptygma Berzerk" as examples of the style... well, but if the rest of the tree is as well-done as you all say it might be worth it, ok. |

EBM should feature Nitzer ebb, and it should plug into Detroit Techno too ![]() Pretty good though really. Makes me feel fucking old though.. I can imagine it now.. in twenty years time watching 'The House and Techno years' on BBC36... slo-mo shots of Blair getting assasinated, with "Radianations on the rise" as the soundtrack... |

yeah leaving out nitzer ebb is unforgivable for example, but also others like klinik, skinny puppy, earlier daf and krupps, let alone smaller but innovative acts like insekt, vomito negro, a split second, neon judgement, tommi stumpff have to be mentioned. yes i also read stories about people who later became detroit legends who got to know each other at front242 concerts.
