I own it, but still love it, so usually only about an hour will pass until it is beating away again.
Your life will change when you get one finally. |

I would say that the speed in which you can work on the machine is amazing. Never having to press "stop" when moving between edits/saves/loads/copies. Also the endless amount of "tweaks" you can pile up on each step is mind-boggling. Each sound can have up to 64 changes registered on each step! You can enter these by just grabbing a knob while it is playing, or choosing a specific step and putting a specific number in. You've got two hands so say you want to spin away on the pitch while you are easing out the decay until the last two 16th notes where you quickly twist them both down immediately. I find it to sound very "alive" with so many changes occuring.
Along these same lines, you can choose any, or all of the 16 instruments that make up a kit to be a midi module where all of the controls you are entering and tweaking away on will be controlling whatever external instrument/or soft synth you have connected. I've hooked it up to my Lexicon effects box and had it sequencing reverbs that sound like someone breathing and then it turns into a barking cough 2 measures later. It's just such a fun method to work with that I haven't found on my computer even with many different controller boxes hooked up to it. I'd say get your hands on one to check it out. @Ruben A - I also bought the microTonic a few days ago..it's badass! |

well - now i got one - i got to say thanks to the guy that was lurking around the forum and spotted my request - and funnily enough - as proof to how cool they are - he actually had two of them, but only one for sale.
Any how - as that guy abave says - its not just how much fun it is making up the sounds - its also how tweakable it all is and best of all - you dont have to switch on a xxxxing computer to use it properly - brilliant - downside - built in fx are a bit crap - especially compresser - but anyhow -= multi outs to decent processers like DP2 and ability to sequence cc's to mod fx is very cool - already recorded on two tracks - what a happy ending! - i dont even feel like killing anyone today... |
