Umek: TELONTOL promo

yiha

got the Umek Promo

it's great, abstract funk, with groovy, metallic riddims

not quite hard techno
4 to the floor

more industrial
sometimes straight slamming, sometimes a more sophisticated approach is used with dese drums and sinister synth

likeitalotti

Umek seems to be like out 4 some people...But i still like him, `cause he is still wicked on the tables and he`s quite variable in his sound...and allways good 4 a suprise... I allways liked his "sinister synth sounds" I`ve seen him once in our labor club...A real wizzard on 3 decks&efx! You might diss me 4 this...But I like him....

i guess i´m one of those who lost intresstest in his music after the prime evil release, schranz bongo monotome loops beats started to come out.

thou the old once on Expire and Abscense are still something i play now and then... i havn´t listen to his new records in a while now. so i can´t say it shit now ^_^

i´ve seen him battle with Beyer in stockholm a couple years ago. rocked the crowed away and it was great yo!

One of the tracks that caused a little surge for the decks at Lost for a track ID last Saturday night was by Umek, perhaps this one. Oh how we laughed. What makes someone move from utter bilge to rocking tunes with such ease?

In the early days he was much better like tomas said.

too much of his records i thought sounded similar
so i eventually stopped listening
he does have some great records tho'
probably more new great ones
i think his problem was he was releasing too much material
probably did him no harm on the money front

the old stuff on zet and a few other labels i cant remember, they were really good.....
alot of his other stuff was good at the time when harder techno wasn't as burnt out as it is now then he started going the more commercial way, losing his original fans, he claims it was to do with him needing a new challenge as he had conquered the techno side, it got to the point where any label he asked would take him on no matter what so it got boring.......fairy muff

yeah the old Umek records on Zet, Communiqué and Absence really rocked, but after 10 similiar sounding records it get boring.

He turned to loopy, percussy, house tracks, which really are shite, but i think he is on the right way now again.

I respect all his stuff, because i think too was some kind of a challenge for him to make s.th. different.

I really think his music suffered under the big quantity of releases..The primate stuff i really did`nt fancy....And some of his tracks really sound like dat leftovers from other releases i admit...

aye, you maybe have a point
that the quality of his techno releases
suffered from the quantity

but imho the electroworks and IDm are good
and so is this one

there was a great one with a weird name on dave clarkes fuse
and the potential one witha green sleeve is deadly
and the first on billy nastys label mumps

then loads of the next releases sounded like these or else other shittier recoerds he brought out

i dont respect him for tryin to make different sounding music
because i feel he failed at this
techno by its very nature imho should be innovative
new fresh sounding stuff is the key
