Richard Devine
Hey Audioheadz
Have any of you ever heard of Richard Devine??? Amazing laptop artist, just witnessed his performance at the Warp Magic Bus stop in Munich, which also had Luke Vibert and Ovuca.. He played on two laptops simultaneously, and for those who are interested, one PC and one Mac! Greetz FORMAT |

yes he's on of the few laptop-artists really having an unique style. quite cool. he played here in jena ca. two years ago (together with phoenecia) and he also used two laptops. got that set on md.
as far as i know he is writing his own software. |

I don't know about writing his own software--- he definitely had Logic on this Titanium, and, as he is a NI endorser, something by them as well (Reaktor). Phoenicia played too but Devine was over the top.
DO you have that ovuca set available for download somewhere? There is one @ klangforschungost as well... FORMAT oh yes... here a pic with him and logic... http://ds.art.pl/galeria.php3?action...leria=91&num=7 Last edited by FORMAT : 15th May 2002 at 13:10. |

Hi amble,
I would be interested in that R. Devine set - would you be ready to record it onto another MD and send it to me if I sent you an envelope and the postage? I live in Munich, Germany, so it's no big deal. Or, alternatively, I will be playing in Leipzig in mid-June with my odd-meter jazz band, if you wanna come see us I'll put you on the guest list and you can give me the MD there..... You can contact me directly at saltimbocca@gmx.de FORMAT |

rich is kooky
rich has been using the mac/pc set-up for a while now, i'd say since '97?? i first met him back in the summer of '96 through a mutual friend, he's def. a unique guy; super nice.
i'm glad he's found a sound, he's always had the heavy metalic-sounds influence, a big meat beat fan. i remember him doing mills-esque tracks at the time. that is all. daniel |

Yeah, I see many of use are diggin' what he is doing. His was really one of the most interesting live electronic acts I've seen so far, though I must say Ovuca was also quite thrilling. Warp rules!
