i always think 'who are they underrated by'? the answer is - the media. thus underrated means the terminally lazy and unimaginative music press haven't discovered them yet. because a) they are not part of this week's 'happening scene' or b)they are not on some list of labels that the mag has to plug

i think there are a lot of good dj's out there who just don't get any booking caus they don't have a release out.......i am sometimes pretty pissed off when i see someone playing who can't mix and i start to think "how can it be he got booked and get money to play".....

cos thats supposedly the way it works. nobody is going to come to your club unless there is a big list of 'credible' labels after the guest dj's name (theoretically).

That seems to have killed it!!
Let's change it to deserve more credit or something.... However, I would say Shawn Rudiman |

No worries, I know what you are saying....however I know where Ian is coming from with his question and felt it needed a decent response.
Jason Brunton springs to mind also... |

I don't think landstrumm is underrated. but I feel tobi is. I have met tons of people who know of landstrumm and dig his stuff but they haven't heard of tobi or dave tarrida.

I don't if people are into this band or not but I always thought the band Helmet never got as much credit as they deserved.
paige hamilton is a great musician and I always thought that helmets music was right on point. |

I agree about Toby, his stuff rules and his live PAs are just totally rockin'. In fact I'm gonna go home and stick my Nest records on tonight...
Biggest respect has to go to people who soldier on, inspite of trends, fashions, commercialism and the legions of pricks who slavishly follow the form... Music seems to be rife with them... Fuck fashion, be an individual and make at least one decision a day... A decision a day, keeps the muppets away! Sorry slipped into rant mode... |

Blood (a.k.a Nick Clow) - he's an absoultlely wonderful artist who released a self-titled album back in 1999 - It's shocked me that it never took off...
Imani Coppola - She's fantastic - as mad as a bag of ferrets on acid, but she's ace Phoenix - French group of lads who never took off big time in the UK I know it's a shame that they didn't hit the big time, but in a way, at least they never ran the risk of being overrated... D_G ;o) |

Dave T and Toby and Neil L are all underrated - but I like that - Jeff MIlls used to be way back before liquid rooms CD came out - he and robert Hood (also underrated) used to do AXIS stuff that was under-ground -
I like the under rated underground non pop of all of TEST/SATIVA/SCANINAVIA /TRESOR stufff..... Right Industrial like ! |
