I like Cartier Bresson, Mapplethorpe, Ansel Adams & loads of newer people whose names I can't remember - plus that american woman who did all the depression-era photos

what´s a council flat? i once went to an exhibition and this guy had taken pics of his family and stuff, the family were really messed up alcoholics and stuff. but nice pics anyway, i really liked it...real-life not fake bullshit. i think he was from britain, but i cannot remember. is this probably the same guy you are talking about?

aleks - yes thats the same guy for sure

a council flat / house is public housing, tenants pay a small rent to the local council to live there...im sure you have this in germany?

dirty ho - she was a bitch in real life. but it was really cool being in her window for a few months!

andreas - mapplethorpe is also amazing...i love his stuff. been to a couple of exhibitions, always pretty intense

wedding photographers are a tedious breed in general

apologies to anyone who is one, or related to one, or wants to be one, etc

i know what you mean, but think you have to be really careful with explaining it this way. nachtwey does speak about this in the war photographer movie (the scene when they inaugurate his exhibition).

one of my favourite photographers is sebastiao salgado.

some of his books:

the children - refugees and migrants
migrations - humanity in transition
terra - struggle of the landless
an uncertain grace
workers - an archaeology of the industrial age
