I was thinking about getting one but I'm going to go for a new mac G5 instead. Maybe next year though.
The mp3 demos on the site are worth checking out. later in the year symbolic sound are going to make kyma a plug-in which should be well cool. Kyma has got a very good reputaion for reliability, I've seen reviews on harmony central where people say things like "I haven't had a crash in 4 years", can any one say that about reaktor or max/msp? The real pisser is that if you get one from the usa you have to pay vat on it when it gets into the uk, thats another £600 on top of the price! Users I know of are: Arovane Richard Devine -Alleamapper has loads of Kyma sounding morphy stuff on it Autechre - Loads of Confield was done on Kyma apparently Star Wars - The pod race in Episode 1 and some of the spaceship noises. The Matrix 1- The mad scream/modem noise when neo takes the pill. |

well, max has only ever crashed twice on me , except when i have been using dodgy VSTs.
but Supercollider! never crashes ever unless you overload the CPU with bad loops in your code. |
