I agree with jukka. If you're depressed, call up your mates.

Other than that, listening to music usually sorts it out.

ordinary things dont usually make me depressed.
its just something that happens now and then for a short while, seemingly without cause.
friends don`t really help, but them trying is always appreciated.
(for me) best to just shut the curtains...emmerse for a while then snap out of it.

How true, how true! Van Gogh swore by Dickens' prescrption: a glass of red wine, some bread and cheese, and a pipe of tobacco really soothes the nerves. And look how it worked for them! Errrm. Yeah.

I can't understand my mates who when depressed, play even more depressing music ???

I like to stick on some smart tunes and go out ravin' ....

Or do some cleaning.... giving the house a good going over keeps your mind elsewhere ...

when i'm depressed i like to think of a good party that i've been to or day out that i've had. then i realise that good times are probably just around the corner and i cheer up. i never let money or lack of money bother me. i suppose i'm a lucky guy when it comes to love so that is rarely a factor.

sometimes i become very quiet which my friends often mistake for depression. it isn't, it's just me not feeling very chatty. i quite like being subdued, it gives me time to think, which can be hard if you live with others.

i do agree with the cleaning theory. a clean house always helps you to feel on top of things.

Sometimes even though you're not depressed or owt like that, you just feel you wanna be on yer own, to do yer own thing.

And people think that you're depressed.

When I'm depressed I like to go and lie in my flotation tank and try and silence my mind completely. Really helps I find.

If that doesn't work I drink red wine, or get a pedicure maybe.

perhaps you could just look at your bank balance COF

im with platinumray, cleaning is a really good thing to do. its monotonous so you cant think too much but its satisfying and you achieve something. i like washing clothes when im down. go for a walk, stroke the cat for a long time, watch something utterly mindless on tv, phone my mum and cry to her for ages and sit back while she cheers me up completely.

none of this works if you are properly unhappy - like you've been dumped by your boyfriend or something. nothing works then apart from girlfriends, lots of tears, lots of booze, and time.

if its death of a loved one, you are looking at numbness for sometime...time is the only one

for any actual REAL depression then exercise, a healthy diet, keep away from stimulants or depressants, a trip to the doctors for you.

when I get depressed for a long periods of time I just go and get a prescription for prozac and that helps me out.

but for everday blues I like record/book shopping. and mixing new records.

i usually become self-indulgent. take a long hot bath with candles around it, drink some wine, give myself a pedicure and try to spend some time focussing on myself. do some yoga. i think if you physically feel good that it rubs off emotionally.

journalling helps a bit as well, but i think the greatest cure is time.
