bargin bin record finds
well, i seem to find more and more great music in the oddest places. being that i am on a tight budget and make a shit wage at my current retail bit, finding great tunes for nothing is a favorite hobby. recently i've found the following.
-Cristian Vogel 'Take No More' with the remixes by Si Begg and Senor Liddel for $5 bucks used -a Justin Berkovi off of Force Inc. from a few years back that just fucking rocks for $5 bucks used -a cd copy of Meat Beat Manifesto's 'Storm the Studio' which to my knowledge is out of print for $6 in a used cd bin _the Smith's 'Queen Is Dead' (a french pressing) that had appearently been played maybe only once or twice being that the vinyl was in such good shape for only $1.99 at a Goodwill (chain thrift store here in america) _Souixsie and the Banshees 'Hyena' for $1.99 at that same spot the day i found the Smiths record i may be devoid of luck in other aspects of my life but i always seem to be able to find good music for very cheap. any of you have any good finds recently?? |

my best charity shop record finds:
1.bbc 'trams' record. basically, a load of recordings of different types of trams, with commentary. one of a series of six, including traction engines and canal barges. 2. now 1 - its got ghostbusters, prince, and chaka khan on it. both 50p. techno-wise, my best purchase was dean and deluca - untitled on m-plant. one of my favourite-est techno records and it only cost 2 quid. |

Thrifty finds...
Recently... a couple of Justin Berkovi records for around $3, a bitchin' Conga Squad EP for $4 that totally rocks. I wonder what it feels like to find your own record in the used bin? I can't wait til that day. I was thrilled when I found out people were sharing some of my tunes on Audiogalaxy... |

I'm no believer in karma, but... last summer I finally got round to weeding out a load of dodgy old '92 progressive house and other cheesy items from my collection. I took 3 or 4 big bagsfull down to the Age Concern charity shop at the bottom of my street. In the rest of that afternoon I found a French vintage Afro-funk compilation (not released in this country), a Compost recs triple 'nu-jazz' compilation (ditto) and King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown, each for between £4 and 5... PLUS a bunch of techno and d&b 12" including 1 Mauruzio and 4 mint condition early Reinforced releases for 99p each.

*** CHECK THIS!!!! *** - last night I got a copy of "Better Off Alone" by Alice Deejay for 25 CENTS!!!!
I haven't decided what to do with it yet. Maybe I should go back and get the other copy for 25 cents and play them both simultaneously, but slightly offset. |

summer of record diggin
its funny that someone renewed the thread because i went shopping today and found more gems...
finally, after looking for many years i found a copy of Si Begg 'Working On The Front Line ep' (mosquito 10)! a 212 productions record called 'Handiwork' that i've also been looking for for years that has an awesome Cari Lekebusch remix for 2.00!! Thomas Heckman on DJAX 'Kobol Tracks No. 1' for 4.00 (came with two copies for doubling up) and a '95 DJAX by Frank de Groot called 'Psylocybe' for 2.00 |

hehe yes, nice that someone re-activated it... i made some great deals, too...
i got scandinavia 01, 03 and 08 plus subvoice15 (subhead) for 55 euro including shipping from spain to me... when i remember what some guys payed for one of these records on ebay... hehe i got them very cheap... then i got framework 1, 2, 3 and 4, unplayed, for 4 euro complete via ebay... msq03 for 10$ bolz bolz's album on feis for 5 euro... this summer is really good for collecting some nice records... but, what do you (all) think... doesn't it look like the old hippie's who search for old records in old shops, what we do? :-)))))))) anyway, a good time to get some rare rec's for nearly nothing |

I've just bought two cd's from Ebay, a DJ Hasebe album from 2000 and a Novophonic compilation from 2001 both for £0.01 each !!!
Obviously you have to stick a quid on each one for postage but what the fuck's all that about then ? |

Second rate drugs produced by Russian mobsters sounds a lot better than anything a Scouse gangster produces from a Liverpool factory using cement mixers and a couple of test tubes .... fucking cheap though .... :-)

well at least the russian mob makes for more interesting newspaper articles - they find some poor idiot to drive a car and just load it to the roof with every drug in existance it seems, and every 10th guy or so gets caught, with lovely listings such as "xx hash, xx heroin, xx speed, xx ecstasy found in car".
there's the rumor going around that the mob just sends people to finnish prison so that they get an education and good connections to the local market hehe |
