almost completely passed me by. occasionally someone plays something I like and I go "what's this, I vaguely recognise it from years ago" and it turns to be off that album that sort of has bluey/yellowy desert on the cover or something. My flatmate had it.

but I'm willing to have much stronger opinions about them for hours if it'd be useful.

i'm asking cos i haven't listened to a lot of their stuff cos i found it rather challenging, but i'm off work ill and decided to go through all of their material in chronological order, hearing how they have developed and maybe getting a handle on their bonkers stuff later on.
i'm blown away so far, more than i expected - garbage and anvil vaepre are just extraordinary.
i've only got to tri repetae so far, so am looking forward to having my brain melted even further.

I think they got better and better until they decided to make Quaristice, which seemed lazy by comparison to their other, recent material. It was intended to be that way, I suppose - a live-ish album. Anyway, interested to see what they do next. Whenever I listen to them I want to dig out my old samplers, make tracks.

autechre to me, more than any other artists in electronic music have got it. They have inspired me more than anyone else as they seem to have carved their own path and have been at the same time almost dreamy in their lushness and uncompromising in their complexity.

I can honestly say i love all their music, i think Untilted is awesome and one of my faves, but Confield And Draft are also amazing.

I too dont like quaristice as much as others but the irony is that the Quaristice tour contained some of the best electronic music i had ever heard. and unfortunately i cannot hear it again.

is it? im not sure how beautiful music is a bit macho.

i personally love the contrast of hard and soft in music, the sense of drama it produces or can produce in the listener. even in ae's most rock hard music there is always a stunning melody running through it, shimmering in the back ground.

i know girls who like autechre but it is kind of true that they seem to appeal more to blokes. let's have a heated debate with egregious generalisations, hysterical misinterpetations and the basest of insults being traded, eventually ending with spandex and knid clinging to each other in exhaustion.

LP-5 is the bomb i you ask me - no one else seems to hate it or love it tho. I like (or loved) pretty much everything before it too - afterwards i think they loose it a bit tho = not thru lack of talent just blatant prog-electronica-analism. and the last one didn't tick either the prog-electronica-analism box or the plain good-electronic-music box in my book.

If you disagree your clearly a cunt/idiot.

Maybe I should try the stuff between that old one I liked (Amber, I looked it up) and Quaristice (which I think I listened to a couple of bits of but don't remember).

There's some lovely remixes by them as well, which are well worth 'searching' for.
