Thats such a sh!t advert. No disrespect, but you should see what the uk anti drugs ads were like in the past. they'd scare the living crap outta ya, make trainspotting look like Seseame street.

Being relevent rather than comparring to an egg - thats just patronising

Recently over here there was a big uproar because some paper published a picture of girl who had just OD. i destinctly remember an anti drugs add back in the 80's that showed a fake version of this same sort of scene of a guy slumped in a squat with needles about him. bloody dark i tell ya.

Back to the pic with the girl. what they fail to tell you and I notice this point wasnt brought up in any papers, was that although the girl had OD, the way she looked, all blue and well dead, is how anybody no matter how they died would look if left to fester. So the shock factor of the drug overdose is not really a true picture. Same goes with the Lea Bates pic's with pipes coming out of her. there are plenty of ways to die or come close to dieing that leave you looking ugly, eyes rolled back, drips out of your arm etc etc. Dieing just aint pretty most of the time.

Have you ever seen someone dieing of alchole overdose - very ugly indeed, and more people die from that than any other type of drug abuse.
When was the last time you saw one of them in the paper, huh

yeah, the US anti-drug campaign was never really scary coz most of it was so over the top that you couldn't take it seriously.i remember one 'after school special' in which a guy takes a toke on a joint and then proceeds to go crazy and jump out a window. please.

my mates used an anti-pot campaign image for the flyer of their party a couple weeks ago - stating that smoking pot makes men grow breasts....hilarious i tell ya - will dig out the flyer tomorrow and post it.

never saw the british anti-drug adverts, but i can imagine they would be disturbing. i mean, the driving ones they are running right now are damn scary. have you seen the one about not speeding, where they show in slow motion a car hitting a kid?!? almost enought to give me nightmares!!

i also find this ad a bit lame. what's wrong with eggs?

and i didn't know that hot fat is a drug. what are the effects?

karitek: that one about pot causing men growing breasts is a burner! i can allready feel it. no need for implants any more.

i tried to remember any anti-drug ads in germany. only one i know is that "KEINE MACHT DEN DROGEN", usually printed on sportstars shirts. they use to hold it into the camera before the give back to the commercial break - "this show was brought to you by Krombacher - das König der Biere" (i also have no idea why it's "das König der Biere" - it probably has something to do with drug abuse)

i agree "keine macht den drogen" was in fact promoting drugs, showing surreal clean happy childs, surely ideals for parents but hardly idols for the kids.

also i always have to laugh when i see the schickimicki guys from bayern muenchen for example doing anti drug campaigns.

it always seems to me that anti-drug ads, though they pretend to be aimed at the kids, are really aimed at the parents - propaganda to make em feel good that the government are 'doing something' about the 'drugs problem', which all us sussed fuckers know governments created themselves. twats.

i remember a smaller german antidrug poster campaign. they showed you a portrait of f.e. a girl and painted the right half of her face like those medecine pics you see the muscles, part of bones etc.
the text was pointing to areas on her open head and explaining what effect that drug has there and some tips for precautions i think. every poster was for one certain drug.
nice. not really scary. more like a stylish medicinemag cover.

my favorite ad was one I saw in the 80's when I was a young kid.
it had this girl dancing around doing ballet and there was a voice
over by a young girl saying "when I grow up, I want to be a ballerina"
then the dancing girls eyes roll back and she collapses on the floor.
right after that a darker ominous voice states "no one ever said I want to be drug addict when I grow up".
and in all honesty, the first time I did drugs when I was 13, I was thinking about that very ad.
way to go Nancy Reagan, your "just say no" campaign was a
smashing success.

does anybody remember that anti smoking ad from the 80's

it was set in the future and featured a bloke who was this humaniod alien, basicly a human that had evolved to be able to smoke better. the message being that if humans carry on smoking then we would evolve to look like this weird guy. Aphex Twin - come too daddy eat your heart out mate. this was real spooksville.

I dont smoke, never have, never will!

about the same time they used to show a real lung from a dead smoker on the telly. Not a model or dummy but a real smokers set of lungs. I tell ya, you have never seen such a putrified lump of gunk and puss and rotting flesh! When you coff, thats your lung thats comming up, not snot, YOUR LUNGS!

I dont smoke, never have, never will! and i f_cking hate getting second hand smoke form all you smelly week willed fuks. Plus say sorry for that hole you burnt into my top last weekend!

sorry.

No I take that back why should i be sorry. you make my clothes stink when i go out, you burn holes in them and mess up my car. You kill my lungs as well as your own, you leave dog ends all over the place and make a general mess, you make it hard to breath in an already hot club, you also send your vile breath into my direction, birds who tuck fag packets into their skirts look like scum, those of you that leave one just hanging there from your lips just look like twats, esp when you talk. you mess up my meal. just thinking about baked beans with ash mixed in with your used dogends squash in there along with a tea bag just makes me want to puke.

thats a great law they have in California - No smoking in public places! that needs to happen here.

Does anyone remember the Lee & Herring sketch about drugs? It was fantastic.

Two students make some brown liquid and proceed to drink it. One starts dancing and the other startings screaming "There are pees coming out of my face!"

Richard Herring had a shrine to all the Corrs (apart from the vile Mancorr "it's not Jim, call him by his name. Mancorr")

He's currently going out with Julia Sawalha from Ab Fab and Press Gang (how I fancied her in Press Gang...)

The anti-smoking campaigns in aus have always been fairly intense....recently they had one with a doctor pushing out all the fat and crap that gets stuck to your aeorta.....it's was all yellow pus like icky chunky whaterver...and they also had one with a doctor cutting open a brain that had a big clot in it supposedly caused by smoking...then they had one with a doctor pouring the amount of tar that would be in a smokers lung (a fairly large beaker full) over a cut up lung.....I guess you get the picture by now. As far as the drugs ads are concerned they have a few...just dramatised little snippits of people "whacked out on happy pills" and the like (they don't really say that but I like to use that sentence as often as I can) and then being real arse holes to their friends, then it usually have a person going "drugs, it's your choice, make sure it's the right one" or something like that...not very confronting (and I doubt it if they are very effective either).....as far as anti booze....nix...figures

You never get Anti-Being An Annoying Twat adverts do you?

"This is Jim. He may seem like a normal 20 year old to his parents, but once he's out of the house and with his mates, he hides a dark secret."

[ Shots of Jim acting like a complete a utter twat with his mates in some shitty club playing ATB or some pop shit, whilst they all laugh a noisy, dunkern and grating laugh as they try to pull some unimpressed girls. Jim and his mates dance like wankers, thinking all the while that everyone in the room is really impressed and doesn't want to stab them in the eyes with forks. Later Jim goes back home, drunk, vomit all down his front, and singing that drunk-persons song every drunk person sings out of tune and very loudly. ]

"Being a tosser - it's a choice. Make sure you make the right one."
