UK Broadband recommendations

am in the sticks so Cable is out, ADSL only.. just at a total loss at who to go with... do BT really suck? and not sure if I can do talk talk as BT told me that I have a 1 year contract with them... no AOL or SKY please...

zen is good but not the cheapest - i think speed varies massively from place to place and provider.

i use be. they give you decent speeds for not much coin, and their customer service is first-rate. on the downside, you have to put up with fluctuating speeds and fairly frequent outages. plus, they might not serve your area if you're in the sticks

a mate of mine recommended o2 to me a few weeks back. he says he gets a ridiculously fast connection from them for peanuts. i've been meaning to check them out myself

Avoid Tiscali, they're cheap but have a stupid 'fair usage' policy, which isn't very fair

Ditto Be - I've been using them since they launched and only once had outage while I'm actually using the net (they thoughtfully tend to only do work on the exchanges in the small hours of the morning), and as previously stated the customer service is first rate.

I just went to the Zen page out of curiosity, seems they have bandwidth caps on all their adsl deals? what's that about?

used to be on zen and they rocked, on virgin now in a shared house and they suck (throttle-city), can't complain too much as a house mates firm pays though.

Incidentally just started working for http://www.seethelight.co.uk/ >

50MB! though we got fuck all neworks at the moment..

went for o2 in the end, can't get Be or Zen round here and vigin is cable only.. i'll let you know if it's shit
