CURSOR MINER

Rob Tubb, from Chichester, England, has become one of the major sensations of new European electro in just a few years. His calling card? His three albums on Lo Recordings, an acclaimed remix for Temposhark, and an acute pop sensibility which makes all his tracks into dynamite. (Sonar write up, in advance of the 2007 festival)

Combining pure dancefloor anthems, dirty twisted breaks, off the wall experimentation and pop sensibilities, all with a good dose of social commentary, Cursor Miner has been likened as what would happen if Beck and Bowie combined with Kraftwerk and Autechre in the middle of an early nineties illegal rave.

FANCY & SPOOK

FANCY & SPOOK make their return to Substance, unleashing a lo-fi LIVE PA of hi energy, all-analogue robotic electro. They draw on the old school sound of Motor City, reminiscent of classic Direct Beat or Aux-88, full of snares rolling loud from the boombox -- an absolute must for fans of classic Detroit Electro.

They have rocked numerous parties, from Monox and their own 'Krank' nights, to 'Shake the Disease' and the legendary Radar Soundsystem. 2006’s “We Had The Technology EP” was ‘top-tenned’ by the mighty Dave Clarke; 2008 saw them remix Dan Monox on MNX Recordings; and, with the new “Extended Peril EP” set to drop, now is a great time to catch their uncompromising live electronics.
