Ds-10
Got my copy of Korg DS-10 today.
![]() What to say except that this is way better than i thought it would be and my expectations were pretty damn high. The interface is simple but deep and the level of tweakability is outdone only by the amount of pure hands on fun you can have. Made this up and mashed it on the spot: http://www.cutoutonline.co.uk/stuff/korgds10_madeup.mp3 This is demo 1 (of 2) with some mucking around: http://www.cutoutonline.co.uk/stuff/korgds10_demo1.mp3 Last edited by cut out : 4th August 2008 at 18:23. |

i got mine from playasia.com for $60 - had it on pre-order from the moment i saw it. i figured with parenthood looming, making acid nonsense on a ds is probably the best way to get my music making fix for the next 6 months and although I've only had it for 1 day, I reckon this is much more usable than any of the other options i have (nanoloop, nitrotracker and dsglitch) - the interface and design are just very, very smart and it feels good as you use it.
Only criticism so far is that you can't tweak in song mode and patterns are limited to 16 steps, but you can store 16 patterns per 'session' (with either forced or timed swap) and so for jamming and live it's top. |

yeah, it's a shame you can't tweak the patch for a drum sound on the fly the way you can with the synths but this is made up for with the fact you can add independent effects for each drum sound. In fact, just the fact that you can treat drum sounds like a synth sound, playing notes and creating long decays and such means you basically have 6 completely flexible sound sources.
How long have you had yours Raff? |

All the text in the Japanese one is in English (except that error message I got at first), you don't have to change languages or anything.

there's no master eq section, but you can obviously tweak the overall top/mid/bottom of each sound by using the cut off/peak and filter type for each sound |

So how much would a DS, cartridge and DS-10 set me back?
I know I could work it out myself but I'm sure plenty of other people are doing the same sums... |

I stayed up way too late last night and programmed the 1st 11 bars of the fugue from Bach's Toccata and Fugue in d-minor. It sounds rubbish but I can't stop.
Didn't realise u can do 4-bar patterns. That might be easier ![]() ........................... lovely cloakroom. lovely cloaks - barbam nondum video |

i got a 'copy' of ds-10 off dashroms (as well as the real copy i bought), i was thinking if i used the copy on the r4 card then i'd be able to dump the whole cartridge with whatever i'd written on it onto the pc and send it ya that would work, or am i being retarded????? would i be able to make a copy of my real cartridge and whack it on't r4 card then to pc????? but yeah we could do it by wireless link, assuming you ever come out to a club night again ![]() |
