horrid food

I love most food, but there are some things I just cannot abide..

1. Liver (tried it again recently.. still vile)
2. Marmalade
3. Jarlsberg Cheese

Everything else is lovely.

Liver is yummy, so is jarlsberg. Marmalade is not so nice. I will eat pretty much anything, I can't think of anything that I actually hate.

Apart from tripe, I tried that once and it was foul.

All of the above are great foods (in all posts), apart from celery, but even that's nice chopped fine for stews and bolognaise type things.

My nomination:
tinned, oily fish like mackerel and tuna.
Broad beans
Marrow

Octopus - my parents eat it on crackers..yuck
Any kind of shell fish/sea bugs - reminds me of death..
Mushrooms - don't like the idea of eating fungus...fungus is what grows inbetween people's toes..I don't want to be eating it..
Caviar - eww..
pigs feet
Stuffed pig intestine - which I've forgotten the name for the dish..
either way..it's gross..

as for tripe - (cow stomach right?) - it's pretty good if it's in a nice menudo soup...good for when you're sick...

Yeah tripe - not keen on the idea of that, but never tried it, though I don't mind lots of other offal
Seafood though - crabs and prawns and mussels and squid - yumyumyumyum!

fuck, some people on here hate some really normal foods. wtf's wrong with mushrooms? they're very good for you and taste amazing.

so bracket, do you generally like food with no flavour?

I'm allergic to shell fish - and almost died once after unknowingly eating it..

so NO..
NOT YUMMYMYMMY...

and as for mushrooms - I don't mind if it's being used to cook w/...like on a nice chicken marsala sauce...but I won't eat them...I usually end up picking them out...

tripe is good if it's in a nice menudo soup...the meat is a bit tough, but the taste of the broth itself reminds me of home...

And how can you not like Marmalade? Food of the gods, when it has thick peel and is spread thickly, with lots of butter, on wholemeal toast

I cannot abide it when people sit there and pick through what's on their plate, it's seriously rude, especially when you've done the cooking. I'd never do that, my mum would give me a thick ear if she found out.

Yeah, just eat it. It's never as bad as you think it might be. You should never turn your nose up if you're a guest - get stuck in!

I think there is two different kinds of etiquittes for eating someone's homecooked meal and then eating out..
a nice home cooked meal...as long as it's not deadly to me..ie shellfish, I'll try it and eat it...
a meal that I've bought and paid for I can do as I please..

@paddy - my mom when she cooks w/ mushrooms and I ask her what those dark things in the food are, she always replies in a very monotone voice,
"it's shit, now eat it..."

i hate mushrooms, even magic ones have to be boiled up before i'll go near 'em
marzipan, margarine & blue cheese are fairly rank too

i've never tried it but in the netherlands you can buy karnemelk (sour milk), just thinking about it turns my stomach

Me and 7 mates ate our way through near 200 quids worth of a specially prepared leg of lamb and 2 whole chickens in our local curry house this evening.

This lamb and chicken had been marinaded for 24 hours.

So yeh. I love flavoursome food.

Ever thought it might be the texture of these foods that i don't like??

Horrid ? HORRID ? HORRID ?

What, are you in the famous five now or something, you bloody great middle class ponce ?
Kams and the Famous Five on Horrid Food Island.

“And plenty of pudding to go afterwards,” said Aunt Fanny, cutting the cake.
"Not for me," said Kams pulling a face, "It's got horrid marmalade in it".
How they all laughed, even Timmy the dog, until Uncle Professor turned up.
The laughter stopped abruptly and an uncomfortable silence descended.
