ChucK

ChucK is a "Strongly-timed, Concurrent, and On-the-fly Audio Programming Language" for OS X, Windows, and Linux.

Looks interesting.

Has anyone?

It was mentioned here, once, a couple of years ago AFAICS but has definitely matured a lot since then.

It's on my list to have a play with. Along with this one as well.

ChucK is awesome. Not optimized for performance, yet, but a lot of fun to play with and capable of some great results especially if you have any Java knowledge. I use miniAudicle, though, b/c I really like the interface. The Audicle thing looks insane but I haven't figured out how to get it to work!

Enjoy fiddling with that Lisp-like Impromptu when you get there mattp - at least by not being on Mac I have one less distraction to investigate Looks interesting and quite similar with its time-based emphasis.

Using ChucK via miniAudicle too cebec, and agree that Audicle is something else altogether! Seen some interesting code out there in particular some Fibonacci based stuff. Out of interest what are you doing with it?

It's all reminding me heavily of programming in AMPLE (which had Forth roots) on a Music 500 on a BBC B+ back in the 80s Endless hours translating synth pop from scores grabbed at the local library...

Just using it for sampler-fodder for now and weird sound generation.
