matmos, but you'd mangle yourself trying to dance to it.

some of their stuff is dance-y - but that's more herbert's pedigree, those phono records are still some of my favourite house records ever.

matmos, although i still have not bought anything since a chance to cut.

Is the civil war any good? I still haven't given it a listen.

I saw them live at rough trade in convent garden a few years ago, I had to move away from the techno section because they had to set up there, the short one asked "are people still listening to that stuff?" They were good though.

everything matmos have done is worthy of insemination. My poisonal faves are the "full on night" remix for rachels and the soft pink missy booty. the new album is fucking masterpiece.

I liked 'The West' a lot.

But both these acts have got super dull in recent years I think.

both civil war & the latest one have their moments imho, but the newer one less so than civil war.... the william borroughs track is pretty good.

the opening track on civil war is really nice.,
sometimes the concepts mask some really flat boring sequencing and sounds. just too academic at points. their more housey tracks are great. I seem to remeber quite a nice labradford remix,a dn the rachels one is really exploratory.
live theyre alot of fun too.

What is 'Object Mangling' does it mean just like twisting your head or is it some geeky talk for some particular type of music - like noodling?

the thing with soft pink truth is, you really only need the first ep, and that's about it.

it's all about big booty bitches on the first album. second album rocked as well.

he's brilliant live, saw him at sonar a few years ago, he was playing a gay porno film on big screens during the set, but all the sex had been edited out making this totally surreal montage of dudes with moustaches hanging out playing squash and exchanging long glances. hilarious!

I'm sure this style makes for a great live set! Still, I bought the first EP in 2001. 2003 the first album is released, and the first 4 tracks are exactly the same... so 4 new tracks in 2 years - wot?
