not sure if the faders are replaceable in that thing??? might be worth checking out first, as they dont look very strong in the pic. especially if you going to get down to some shoogling action.

I think Behringer products sometimes get unfairly branded as having a low build quality.. but they are a bit plasticy. I don't think it matters so much on the midi controllers etc... but a DJ mixer would get a lot more stick..

good point re the replaceables. don't look like they are
![]() there isn't really an alternative to this tho. was considering serato scratch - looks fantastic for beatmatching, but most gigs i get these days are function/pub type things, beatmatching not necessary. so i don't wanna have to drag a set of decks around. tho i suppose i could buy a cheap set of numark cd decks and do that instead of using the laptop. i'd still need to buy a new mixer as well tho.....hmmmmmmmmmm.... do what I do.
Get yourself a USB/Firewire soundcard with 2 sets of stereo outputs (I've got the M-Audio Firewire Audiophile), get Traktor DJ Studio, assign each deck to one or the other of the outputs, click the "use external mixer" button, and then plug the two outputs into channel 1 and 2 of your mixer, and just take your laptop, soundcard and mixer to the gig. Perfect. Then you can use your existing mixer, or get a cheap shit one. Beatmatching and all that can be done on the screen with keyboard/mouse, and crossfading and levels on the mixer. ........................... no, my existing mixer is broken.
using mouse/keyboard to control the tracks is like trying to play records with one arm. shite... hence the need for a thing to interface with the tracks. |
