hack my phone
i have a mobile phone with which you can record samples as ringtones, usually thru the phone's mic. it then plays back different samples on different events. but it would be much more elegant & interesting to dump the samples via data cable of course. now finally a guy wrote a program that can down- and upload the samples and it works.
the problem is that the codec is still unknown. it's for sure that the attached file contains the data of a sample from 'californication' (a demo made by the guy) but it's not wav, and no other known format. well, now i thought with all those pro guys around here perhaps someone can successfully extract the sample (very lo-fi one of course) from the file... ![]() |

@c s
I've been experimenting with hooking up my nokia 5110 to my soundcard both ways so that I could automate phone calls and generally annoy people with Mr.T samples, so far with limited success - what model is that stuff for? |

Be careful, I had a nokia 6210 which I tried to sync with my pc, I uploaded data from the pc to the phone...unfortunately there was a "software incompatibility problem" and I fried my sim card..all im saying is if your phone and pc are hooked up already and you have no problems, or if you are loading data from the phone to computer you should be ok, just be careful if your doing it the other way round...Ive got a recorder on my phone as well (in fact its why I got this model) but I cant find the bloody connecting cable I bought for the last phone now!

nokia stole that from sony?
let's not talk about data cables, the price of mine was like sony-was-laughing-into-my-face if you know what i mean... no IR port, of course, and then sell a very short cable, the only compatible one, at a high price. i'm generally always careful, i have backups of the data, but this is the first time i heard of a sim card killed by data dumps - oops. well, i hope the software here has no serious bugs. the one offered by sony itself (again at a ridiculous price) is total crap anyway only the freeware i found is useful. but thanks for the warning... |
