DEATH TO VINYL 001 (new techno label)
This one came as a much needed surprise when i found out that it was imminent..
... Whats that Lassie? A new techno label? Run by Jason Leach from Subhead? Focusing on proper dancefloor ravey gear? - Thats right... sounds good on paper and i can assure you, even better on vinyl. Opening up with an absolute stormer.. fast monster breakbeats with a headrush inducing synth riff that cuts straight through your very soul focusing squarely on the dancefloor whilst signaling rave armageddon Next up, a fat sludgey techno stomper, kind of a cross between the current wave of swiss style stodge and those early-Berkovi-style-anti-melodies .. Two keyboards go to war, each layering their own 'melody' over the other to blistering effect...some proper hairs up on the back of your neck moments in this track.. Flip it for an almost 'forshawrian' 4/4 techno workout akin to loads of frogs jumping around on a dirty lily with their eyes bulging and rolling, the ep concludes with another powerful stuttering funk workout with plenty of special sauce... I would happily have bought either of the A side tracks as a one sided vinyl so to have these four all together on one disc is not only amazing value for yer money but ... oh dear... got to the point where words seem irrelevent and i could just ramble on for ever.. but basically - this is a must have, and if the future releases are anywhere near as strong as this then the techno scene is in for a treat..
