Buffer size and playback quality
I am wondering - and my ears may be deceiving me.... but , in a MOTU audio system (or other system for that matter) .... when the user increases the samples buffer size for better DSP performance during playback , does this noticeably change the quality of the playback in Logic? - I know that latency from playing a Audio Instrument live , increases , but does the sequencer compensate for latency when just playing back , at any buffer size?

its sad answering your own question - but hey... Well , it seems that some plug ins do need a small lookahead type buffer , or a process buffer and these will lose there timing .... but other simpler plug ins don't ... so of course a mix can perceivably change quite dramatically - sound less tight - with certain plug in configurations , but with other simpler modules it may not sound so different mixwise with a higher latency sample buffer size...
... maybe i misunderstood the answer... |
