Chicks on Speed/Le Tigre: full report

One of my favorite bands comes to town, people I totally look up to and admire, and as usual, Portland fucking ruins it by just standing there chain smoking and trying to look cool.

What the fuck is *WRONG* with these people? It's like their legs are fucking broken, or they just don't know how to dance or something.

[sidenote: I went and saw Cadallaca here in portland once, and the lead singer stopped and said "You guys suck. I've seen more dancing while listening to Prince records in my own damn living room." Indeed.]

Oh well, at least I had fun, and that's what counts. There's no hope for the rest of "them".

The Chicks were fucking awesome, as usual. Tho I have to say I was a bit disappointed that they didn't bring "the boob monster" around this time. they played some of the new stuff i will have to check out soon....

Le Tigre was sort of a mixed bag for me, since I loved their first album and absolutely hated the second. Their feminist politics sort of made me feel alienated. Or maybe it was just because I was there with the *entire portland single lesbian community*. :P go fig. excellent videos tho (i think sadie benning might have made them? they were amazing - crazy shit done with toys and a Video Painter).

what? the chicks playing and nobody moving? that must really have been a shite audience. people started to po-go when i saw them at maria berlin when s_c played downstairs. poor portland!
