that isn't what the controller's gonna look like sony/nintendo etc never reveal the final controller design until the very last minute, because it's pretty much the most important part of the console.

gotta say though, the ps3 is crazy ugly, but it'll be the don dada, so who cares.

Look, can't they just stop fuckin about and do one that'll take a keyboard + mouse, possibly even a soundcard, and run either win xp or os x, i mean , look at it, its a perfect music computer, one of them in your backpack running ableton live and you're away.

all that power wasted on a games console while us laptop mac owners are struggling to make it past 1.7 ghz ( i only say that coz they're tha same colour)

isn't this thing going to cost big $$, like enough to buy a decent computer $?
at least if you throw the controller across the room in a fit of anger it will come back to you!

Generally it's not the case - the consoles on paper seem powerful - but they're actually more like a giant graphics cards sucking down on a cocktail of crack and meth-amphetamine. As a computer they're entirely devoted to generating fast graphics. They've chopped out all the bits that you'd need to have a powerful music making machine.

That said I was wondering about the revolution's new controller, would it be fun to have that in a live set?

As to those Mac laptops - don't matter anymore now - next year they'll be using Intel chips and speed will not be a problem. Ironic that MS went for the PPC chips in their X-Box 360, which IBM said they'd get them running at 3.5ghz and what have MS finally announced? That it'll contain three chips running at a paltry 2.0ghz. No surely not, not IBM undelivering on the clock speed again!

There's no official news from Sony, but the whiff is that the PS3 will be expensive - a lot more thant the 360.

I've heard the plan is to carry on supporting PS2 games and aim the PS3 and the hardcore game - at least to begin with...

This is partly because of the continued success of PS1, even after the PS2 hit the shelves...

So I'm guessing that maybe the PS3 might be nearer £400 for a bit... but this is just rumour and conjecture...

There was a huge Tokyo-Game-Messe on September 19th.
PS3 showed the demo-movie for the Metal Gear Solid.
The press wasn't allowed to photograph, but they say it was unbelievable.

I haven't gone to the messe,
but would like to see how exactly the picture was.

This is the best I can come up with.
Pics of the Metal Gear Solid's movie scene running on the PS3.

They say it is so beautiful that it's actually spooky.

The question was that can we actually move these Hi-quality characters in the game-mode. Or even come close to that.

IMO, It looks like a real-manga out in life.

yeah sniffio, i'm a big fan of Kojima-san. MGS hasn't really changed since its first outing on the psone, but i loved the MGS3, having to eat food and heal yourself and stuff, a well nice touch. i killed something like 540 enemy troops the first time round, but only one the second time round. i started feeling really bad for these ficticious peoples families. it's also far more rewarding using stealth.

the next one's gonna rock, fully destructible enviroments and full on disguises apparently.

I'm always a bit sceptical of these way-early pre-release shots/movies, all the stuff shown at E3 (which sony said was running real time) was later proven to be pre-rendered movies..
before the ps2 came out sony said the graphics would be toy-story quality (and it turned out to be the least powerful of the 3 consoles)..
nintendo did the same thing, I think they said the n64 would have graphics that could produce the same quality as the dinosaurs in jurassic park!!
as far as xbox 360 goes...well http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3143540

I don't see how those specs are of any interest at all, unless you are a games developer.

The rest of the modern world should wait for the games and see which platform is actually good.

the original MGS4 movie was actually rendered on the PS2, because Kojima-san wanted to keep everything about it totally secret.

werd wheezer.
