There's an El-B reissue that just came out that's deadly. Proper knife sharpening shuffle beats like Burial but much more like garage. I can't remember what the track is called though, anyone? mebe check Boomkat, it's on this weeks releases methinks. oh, here it is: EL-B / QUALIFIDE - Anger.Management.Volume.One QUALIFIDE There was another compilation called roots of dubstep or something on Big Apple I think with another class El-B thing on it. |

Pere Ubu - The Modern Dance
What a fantastic album.. kind of like Talking Heads if they were influenced by west coast or beefheart rather than new york or Disco... The title track is stunning. |

Pere Ubu do have a certain wallop thats other dont often have... its not about heaviness either.. can't quite put my finger on it. I need to get this album though - I've got 'Dub Housing' from the same year and its SO good. |

Yeah Dub Housing is great, that was my favourite for a while, cos on the face of it it's a bit wierder than The Modern Dance.... but Modern is a real classic. They definitely have wallop. I remember reading somewhere about how they were one of the first few post punk type bands in New York who were recorded by one specific philantopist producer... can't remember who.. and suddenly tiny garage bands had great production and sizzling hi-hats instead of putting out muffled dirges. |

I have 24 track loop on the Out of Cold Storage box set but I think it was on a Wire comp too.
The Arve Heinriksen album is lovely. Another really pretty album is Antena's Camino Del Sol which was reissued in 2004., originally on Disque De Crepuscle I think. The closest thing I can describe it as is the french female bossa equivalent of computer love as ripped off by stereolab, juana molina and everyone else since without a word of credit. The title track is great and To Climb a Cliff is outstanding. |

It's called Beyond. Think it's not out til April... it basically sounds like every other Dinosaur record - thus is brilliant.

this here track I'm working on, using loops from the new CSS single, inspired by the way they sang the same line over and over in soundcheck when I saw them... I'm going to use the "off the hook" chorus with its beachboys harmonies, but only at the end, so the track is sort of relentlessly jacking and building at the moment
