Steiner Schools...a step to far?

Would you send your kids to a Steiner School?

I would.

I worked for someone in Brighton who'd sent their kids to a Steiner school and then withdrawn them because of weirdness there. His kids were nuts but I don't know whether him or the Steiner School were more to blame.

maybe for a few years, for nursery or reception or something but then they would have a shock at mainstream school. at the one in brighton they only eat lovely organic food and one day a week everyone cooks their own lunch or something equally nice-sounding.

Rudolph Steiner was pretty keen on eugenics, though I'm not sure if the Steiner schools are as keen

Yes, like Bernard- Shaw, Marie Stopes, Woolf and many a forward thinking left-winger of the Edwardian era and beyond.

Interesting.

Perhaps they should just give teachers less ridiculous paperwork to do and stop testing 8 year olds.

Quite, everyone was at it - it didn't seem such a repulsive idea as it does now. I guess WW2 had a lot to do with this.

nah you pay what you can afford based on your earnings... well at the one in York. I'm a steiner kid.

Allot of 'problem' children get sent to them, tho I can remember a few getting kicked out as well. Same as any school you get some straight up folk who do well n idiots that don't.

I also went to the one near stroud n that was quite strict. N not very 'hippie' like at all.

sweaping generalisations suck... but I supose that's what forums produce.

the one here is mostly kids from parents who vote conservative and are pretty wacky and rich...or atleast it used to be like

when i was at school i had friends from steiners down the road and they used to tell me all the cool shit they got up to in school but i didnt envy them gettin beaten up or shouted at by other school kids pretty frequently

do I swear allot? I went from the age of 11-16 so not all the way through... prior to that I went to preaty grim schools in Leeds n they sucked in comparison. I had a great time... the one in York is really good.

The smaller less organised ones do seem to be a bit more whacked out tho.
