[London] Soundslike Werk: Party #3, 28 May

Accidental Records and Werk Discs present…

Soundslike Werk: Party Number 3

On Saturday May 28th, from 9 pm – 6 am (note new start time: a whole extra hour of fun-filled frolics).

Previously on Soundslike Werk:

Episode one was the dawn of the big cheeses, with Herbert, Brooks, Four Tet, Martin Rubadub and Actress wafting such an extraordinary musical odour through the rank and file of the inaugural Soundslike Werk faithful that we had to open the doors to let the funk out.

In episode two we went underground, to the sounds of Warp’s latest wunderkind Jackson, ex-Micronaut George Issakidis, some madmen from Norway, the Skam guerrillas-in-the-mist from Greater Manchester and Sir Real. Again, the cheese was strong that night, even if the weather was colder than a Scotsman’s handshake.

Now, as we approach the third party, what paths will we tread? What mountains will we move? What nonsense will we write? Yea, what barrels will we scrape, to bring you the most interesting bunker rave-up this side of the Watford Gap?

Because, for the benefit of the uninitiated: this is a party without line-ups. Without a named venue. Run by people without any kind of clue about what they’re doing. And for this last party before the summer we have assembled a line-up that pleases us more than a dog in a balaclava. On rollerskates.

For legends will rub shoulders with rank amateurs in the DJ booths. The great and good will mingle with the lumpen proletariat on the dancefloor. The bourgeoisie will share a toilet queue with the bohemian. The boundaries of rave hierarchy will come crashing down and a state of temporary anarchy will reign, if only for a few happy hours, in a sweaty warehouse somewhere in the wilds of south London.

In short, we’ve booked some artists and we hope they turn up. And we hope you turn up too.

Room One – hosted by Accidental records: chug to the frug and chip to the chop of the UK’s premier peddlers of house-hop, starring special guests and friends of the family from near and far.

Room Two – hosted by Werk: the last word in spit ‘n’ sawdust, cheese ‘n’ ham, fire ‘n’ brimstone electronic oddball rave guff, featuring a special live showcase and stern-faced men playing records.

Room Three – the Harold Faltemeyer suite: featuring the best in drone-core, synth-wash and power-bollocks.

BOOK NOW AND SAVE £££s

…with the brand new Soundslike Werk Advanced Booking Bonanza Award Points Scheme (or SWAB-BAP for short).

We’re offering £8 advanced tickets – as a reward for all those who’ve come before/cynical marketing ploy – if you buy them BEFORE May 1st. Tickets will cost £10 thereafter.

We have 350 tickets only. We won’t be advertising by conventional means, so get in there before the fashion crowd catch on and the whole thing goes to the dogs.

You can secure your SWAB-BAP ticket now via cash, cheque, Paypal or bank transfer, by contacting one of the following ticket whores, who will service you without delay:

Via the wonders of electronic mail: soundslike_werk@bigfoot.com
Phone or text: 07990 970267/07977 984805

Tickets will also shortly be available in Smallfish, Selectadisc and Sounds of the Universe.

And may the cheese be with you,

Soundslike Werk

I dont think i'm going to be able to make it down to this 1 - just not enough funds for a trip to London. Also mr lizard is not going to be about so i cant impose on his hospitality and drink all his booze. Nae use.

i'm sure if it'll be a good party if the last two were anything to go by.

Aye the card board cut outs will probably have more chat than the original but less of a well stacked boose cabinet i suspect.

Me and Cut Out will be in Barca, I'm afraid - otherwise I'd try, having not made it to either of the previous two.

we've been a bit slack on the SWAB-BAP sales front so have decided to extend the £8 deadline until 10 May.

after 10 May SWAB-BAPs will be £10. £10 SWAB-BAPs will also be in Sounds of the Universe, Smallfish and Selectadisc soon - we'll post an update as soon as they're available.

PLEASE REMEMBER: YOU NEED A TICKET TO GAIN ENTRY & THE TWO PREVIOUS PARTIES HAVE SOLD OUT.

we accept cheques, PayPal or bank transfers - email soundslike_werk@bigfoot.com for further info.

SWAB-BAP update:

the 3 shops - Selectadisc, Smallfish and Sounds of the Universe - will all get a restock of tickets today/tomorrow.

the cut-off point for cheques/PayPal/bank transfers is next Wednesday - email soundslike_werk@bigfoot.com if you wish to pay by one of these methods.

you can also pay cash for tickets at the pre-party at The Social, W1, on Wednesday 25 May.

there's a Mugison (Accidental Records) gig at The Windmill in Brixton this coming Sunday. it runs from 4pm-midnight and costs £4 to get in. there'll be some Werkers there that you can grab SL_Werk tickets off.

finally, if you're in south London, you can meet a Werker and pay cash for tickets - PM me or email soundslike_werk@bigfoot.com to set-up a rendezvous.

DO NOT MISS OUT - THIS IS OUR BEST LINE-UP YET!

Yep, it did indeed rock.

Caught Hand on the Plow, Kode 9, Stacs of Stamina and Shake - all of which tore the place apart in their own different way. One of the friendliest, best set up parties I've been to in a long time. Felt honoured to be invited to play.

Big up the Soundslike Werk massive. Can't wait for the next instalment.
