I know someone who has a laugh doing it, we get to sit and help him choose sometimes.. I'd do it if I was single.

a mate of mine was net "dating" an american lass..she turned up in scotland, sat in his flat for 9 months knitting asking him to marry her...this is either a warning or a recomendation...depending on your present state of loneliness...

my last girlfriend was American, met her in the internet through a mutual friend. I fucked up the relationship, though.

if it works for someone, power to them. i prefer the good, old-fashioned method of going out and meeting people in the flesh, though. much more fun. that way, you can get wasted and have a little dance

I love the internet, I just wish I didn't get electric shocks when I fucked the mouse port.

Internet dating is horrible, I had one years and years ago and it was good, right up until the point something really horrible happened to her and I realised that I couldn't really be there for her and I was just kidding myself anything decent was ever going to come from it. There have been a few girls I've got a bit close to over the net in the past yer and a bit but the difference is these days I'm not pretending it's a relationship or anything is going to come from it, it's more like forming a clique of fuck buddies all over the world.

i've got a mate who swears by it, he's had quite a few long term girlfriends through it. thing is you can have a shopping list of common interests- must like yoga, hillwalking and smoking skunk - how likely are you to meet that person in a pub?

i could never do it as i couldn't bring myself to be all sooky to a stranger on a computer screen

I'm sure i've mentioned this in another thread: friend of mine met her beau via the internet (well, a forum anyhow) - he lives in the states - they're still together a few years on - she's in the states with him at the moment on holiday...

I've never gone out of my way to meet girls online in the same city, don't see much point in it really. I'd rather meet someone off the street or whatever and just kick it off like that.

Friend of mine married a girl from the states he met via the ineternet. They were divorced a year later - though I should say that a) my mate's a bit of a loon and b) she was even more of a loon (should have been a match made in heaven really)

I was chatting to this from the States who I met online a few years ago - she sent me this picture of her monkey collection

needless to say, following the arrival of this picture, the conversation dried up somewhat.

Me too. They were mental cases but it was sex on tap... (looking back at that time I think I specifically contacted the mental ones out of natural perversity - I think there were some sane ones who'd left messages too)

I actually met my wife online, not dating, just on a forum where I met lots of other friends. Fuck it, I don't see it's any different from any other way of meeting people - there are 'good' and 'bad' bits of the internet, and it's how you behave once you've met the person that's more important than how you meet them.
