the tresor closing parties and the 'world-wide support'

as some of you might already have noticed, tresor will do it's 14 days-long closing party marathon from 01.-16. february and therefore they have invited all dj's/live acts who played a major role for either the club or the label over the past 14 years. they did not offered any fees to anyone, but will cover all flight costs, hotels, food and whatsoever you can imagine for a nice stay in berlin. this is, because they just can't pay hundreds of thousands of high class dj's within 14 days and they also need to save as much as they can to relocate the club to a new location.

it is however very interesting to see, who's up to show some support and who's not: a lot of the -let's say 'big names' have rejected the offer.

some might have their reasons, but others definitely not and this is kinda poor indeed...I guess that most of them forgot how much they owe to tresor. how 'big' would their name be without tresor, how much money have they earned over the past years when they played in the club and how much money will they earn in the future when a potential new source of income will be established by the tresor crew? these are some questions many should ask themselves.

this goes out especially to detroit, another guy living in chicago, berlin, tokyo or where ever lufthansa first class has taken him to, but also to a few other ones who might read this here or somewhere else. I'm well disappointed. or am I wrong here? what's this whole techno thing all about then?

even though tresor might not be the same anymore as it was a couple of years ago, I think it has ever been a very important institution in techno history.

blabla...to come to an end, I'm sure the closing parties will be cool enough, but if you're missing a few names on the line up, then you know why.

nico

btw, I'm not acting for or behalf of anyone at tresor, this is just my own opinion.

it´s a good opinion nico. I would have expected it to turn out this way with the artists aswell. That´s how all things work. But I hope Tresor will shut down the club with manner and get prepared for a new chapter in the never ending electronic history.

unfortunately we asked if cristian could play on the 2nd april and it wasnt possible because they already have an outside promoter in that weekend. i was going to come with him and say a fond farewell so that was a shame.

he was busy the other two weekends and had studio committments during the weeks so he is sad not to be able to play there.

the thing is, i had to actually ask the tresor crew to let me know about the dates and it was fairly recently, about 3 weeks ago or so that they got in touch, so it could be the case that people's diaries are already booked up with committments that they want to honour.

It`s really a pity how attitudes change when people get overfed......

At least i hope to meet some board people again on the last breath of Tresor... Don`t forget, the show must (and will) continue..

on the other hand, there are some of us who would have quite happily have offered our services, who actually live in berlin and have made at least some kind of contribution the the techno scene in general in the past 5 years who were never even approached.......

to be honest Tresor gives big shit to Poland crew too. we have been making their label nights every month since 1997 and since then they never invited to play at their club somebody from our crew. My only performance at Tresor was booked not by Tresor but by Neue Heimat back in 2002. So nice...
