1999 i was there,thats when i left portland and havent been back.after i left black rock i took hwy50 to ely and then 82 to las crapas"vegas"
on the half way mark on 82 it was just getting dark and i choose to stop the car a watch the sunset and see some stars,"if nobody knows that the only place you will not a black sky at night its all stars like star paper",anyways got back in the car and started back on my journey,and just then they started making the asfault out red cement instead of black,strange?i thought to myself!!!!bam!!!!there was a tire in the road and it riped my back axle all the way out and threw me and the car about 10 yards of the road,......now i hadent seen a car in about 4 hours, and i had my pack,and had some hitching experence before but this area is possibly the worst.anyways someone picked me up and as i got back to the car,with a towtruck it was
daylight,and i happened to see the area 51 refrence sign,and the sign that says"alien abuduction capital of the world"-with a little alien picture on the front.anyways got back to dallas,and my journey continued for about another 6 months......terrible experence,but learned some good survival skills.
