since most music is still recorded in 2-channels I think 5.1 sounds crappy...only for fun...
According to DVD-audio which also brings you a higher sample-rate and 24bit. you´ll have the opportunity to work with 6 individual channels. Think of recording/mastering in 6 channels..huh... could be wicked! Would bring out a new dimension of electronic music! -and the working metode!! Now you have to think of WHERE the sound should be placed... and not only how it should sound! ![]() |

I just mixed in 5.1 on pro tools at school. I like it. you can do some wicked things. you can make the sound come from everywhere. create a 3d audio spectrum. I think it would be nice for electronic music. you could automate sounds coming from behind you and then have it move around to the front. I think some cool things could come about from it. the next thing is 7.1 though.
that shit will be wicked. |

the ambisone vst plugin lets you use surround sound I'm pretty sure.
You move the sound around a diagram of a head... can change the distance as well as the panning |
