Midi Controllers
So what midi controllers do you lot use, and which ones do you recommend for live usage? What I want is dial-style controllers ('knobs')..
I'm having my eyes on these two..: http://www.jam.se/images/doepferpocketcontrolny.jpg http://www.jam.se/images/evolutionUcontrol.jpg comments and thoughts? |

well, I assume you want to control your software with these correct?
Do you have some current hardware synths that send controller info? I have a Peavey 1600 slide box that is great, but when I want to use knobs for stuff, my nord 2 rack and Redsound Darkstar both become very nice control boxes. All their knobs (and the x-y joystick on the darkstar) send midi info. A lot of the software is "smart" with its midi so it will just grab the channel and control# coming to it and assign it. The Doepfer stuff is good and so it the Kenton stuff. I'm not familiar with that second item you showed. It looks pretty good though. |

I JUST GOT the "oxygen 8" by-midimantechnologies- so far it does what i want ,however im just using it to controll some soft synth and simple nob twisten.if your looking for something with great latency this is not for you,but its not the worst ether.midiman is good stuff but the best for me so far concerning all factors is my kawai synth-i love it.cheers!@http://www.8thstreet.com/product.asp...DI_Controllers

thanks for the input!
I just got the doepfer pocket control last week, have only tried it out for a couple of minutes (I'm in the middle of moving) but it seems to really do what I want, without hassle. Tonewrecker - got a link for your Peavey? |

I had a Kenton Studio FReak to control a Oberheim Matrix 1000...
Superb quality - should work out fine. Okay with sliders.. but I prefered knobs instead, so sold it again and got an Access Matrix Controller! That´s also gone today..... |

m-audio surface one looks good but it's not been released yet - expensive but I think it'd suite people here better than a standard midi controller.
