doesnt really fit with what you writing about here but the first "dub" records i latched on to in that period were Aphex's "We are the Music Makers" and the dubby one off the J9 ep.

my brother was more into the ravey dub stuff, having 7 years on me, but the main 12 i nabbed from his record collection other then the obvious Orb and FSOL stuff was the misty and roots sampling Moody Boys KLF dub. But again you have them covered.

nice article though.. took me back to a place of bucket bongs and purple ohms. cheers.

Oh AFX totally fits in too... and I'd forgotten about all those early Leftfield mixes... I guess related to the latter this would probably fit in too:

This is pretty much drug dub too:

Great genre!
Two of my favourite Dubwise Acid Tripout tunes:

LD. Jam - Uptown Dub

Ital Rockers (Later Iration Steppers) - Itals Anthem

Never realised this, enjoyed both but never twigged they were connected. Iration Steppers used to do a great live show back in the mid-90's.

I never knew the connection either, but Iration Steppas also pretty important in the development of dubstep - putting on the first DMZ nights up north, mentoring Mala in soundsystem tech, heavily involved in the beginnings of Outlook festival etc.

Mark is a lovely fella. He used to do the Soundclash nights in Leeds with Roots an in the early 90s and got people like Weatherall and Sherman up to play 'drug dub' as well as more traditional dub fare. They were ace nights. Very smokey!

Yeah 'Ketamine Entity' was on the shortlist for that RBMA playlist, but I didn't want to put two tracks off the same album (it's on 'Ambient Dub Vol 1' with the Original Rockers track).

Actually heard someone play it in a warm up set at Plex not long ago, still sounds great, even if the vocals are really fucking silly.

To get the embed code for YouTube, you click the 'Share' button on the YouTube page, then click 'Embed' and you can cut and paste the code it gives you.

I would suggest Fabi Paras' Shiva Shanti material, but I think you turned your nose up at it when we discussed it on the twitters.

I went to a few of those in Leeds around 93/94 I think. Was a student in Sheffield...

Did they supply the rigs for some of the Jungle nights in Leeds too? Remember seeing DJ Krust and some other more Metalheadz type things on some nice systems.
