He said America is the mother of all music of 20 th century, they are progressive thinking people and we would all judge them bad by a minority of red necks. And so on, and so on... So I wonder is that true? I mean it is super weird that you can walk around with automatic weapons legally and order bullets from the internet. It is fucking unimaginable over here, except in war times. I know a little about that and I might be one of the rare members on this board who had a hand granade in his hand, when I was a kid. But that is not the normal case. That was in war.

I'm not American, but I spent 5 years living in the US as a German, and there were countless times where people would immediately link my being German with Adolf Hitler, Nazis, Genocide and World War 2. I lived in Georgia from ages 8 - 13 years, between 1989 and 1995 - not even my parents had been born when WW2 ended. I wasn't really offended by people bringing that shit up. Without exception, people that did were poorly educated and/or fairly ignorant. As you can probably guess though, I have no sympathy for your American friend living in Berlin. That's life - if you were an easy-going dude from somewhere in the middle east, you would be dealing with a far worse lot in terms of prejudice and people spouting bullshit at you. Your buddy was born in (arguably) the richest and most powerful country of all time, and he's still complaining! I think that Gunjack would call this a 1st world problem.

On the gun ownership thing, the NRA is an incredibly powerful lobby in a country that globally leads the way in terms of lobbying. They have permeated American culture so deep and for so long that it is hard to tell where the lobby begins and popular opinion ends. I doubt that this tragedy in Colorado will really change anything at all, although maybe you can look forward to some metal detectors at your next cinema screening. Is it true that Obama has an even worse record in terms of gun regulation than Dubya did?

I also don't have sympathies for him and he is not really a friend of mine. I tried to explain that to him but he didn't really get it. Anyway.

I saw the film yesterday. It is really good, although I like the 2nd part more. The greatest thing for me is Hans Zimmers music. He is a genius.

I'm not sure what you mean. No gun regulation legislation has come up during his presidency that I know of.
