I first invited Bill over to Barcelona to record this EP in Summer of 2004. After seeing his slamming live show, I had the idea to try and record a techno live act, in the same way as I would with a raw rocking band. I tracked Bill performing some pieces from his live show, in the studio's live room, with his sound blasting out of a Fender twin, and me in the control room tracking his outputs and trying to get a good performance down. On and off over the space of a year, I mixed the results at my old studio, Erutufon 5, destined for an EP on Nofuture's own Mosquito imprint. When the mixes were finally ready, Mosquito lost its distribution deal again, just as the EP was in Berlin being cut at Dubplates & Mastering. Faced with more delays , I decided to ask Tresor if they wanted to pick it up, quite literally, as the masterdisc was actually nearby the Tresor office, at D&M in Berlin just sitting there waiting for something to happen. Carola at Tresor kindly offered to release the EP, and so finally it gets to see the light of day. If you look closely at the vinyl runout, you can see MSQ024 scratched out, and Tresor 222 in its place! Many thanks due to Bill for his patience. To my ears in 2006, the record sounds heavy , uncompromising and unique. More information and an intriuging press release can be found at http://www.tresorberlin.com/label/da...e=Tresor.222EP |
