new tune

okay folks, my first proper foray into techno. total default techno composition, cos i ended up getting bored
basslines quite dull too cos i couldn't really think of anything to do with it.
anyways, have a listen here and tell me what you think.

I like the wabby electrobirds.

IMHO... I think a more clicky/subby kick (mebbe an 808 with the front cut off?) and a bassline with faster and shorter notes and more bass in... and maybe an offbeat shaker.

Bizarrely.. it's quite similar to something I was working on last night... http://s50.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2...A2HI1P ILD9IN

I like it.
you could beef up the kicks by layering them. I find using two copies of the same kick sound with them slightly out of tune with each other and then heavy compression can get some cool effects.
I liked the subtley of the bass line. I just think it could be more prominent. again, layering is your friend. and compression.

one quick tip for getting punchier kicks is to send them to a compressor with maybe a 4:1 ratio. make your attack a little slower, so a bit of the natural sound gets through first, and then make the release hold for a bit, but not too long. maybe 500ms?
