alt numpad commands

Hi all,
been searching for a site which lists all alt+numpad combinations but I cant seem to find one. For instance alt255 is the computer ascii value for null, Im looking for the / value. Can someone point me in the right direction?

naa, not that kind of ascii values. Try a couple out and you'll know what I mean. For instance, try renaming a file and press the alt key followed by 255 (alt key held down while typing 255) and then clicking outside of it. The file will now be named nothing (or more precise a space, with other words the pc value for null) This is otherwise not allowed by windows, kinda fun, right?

no rick, that's exactly the right table, just check the column labeled oct.

btw, alt+255 is not null, alt+0 is null. alt+040 is a space.

i used to do a little bit, back in the BBS days. nothing special tho.

well, wheezer, try naming a file alt+255, it IS null.

alt + 255 is just a blank space I believe, not NULL.
alt + 255 gives you a blank space.

hmm, ok, Ill buy that. But you cant name a file null, thats what I was refering to..If you want to name it so that it appears to have no name alt255 is the only option

try it - create a new folder and press the space bar once, it wont have it.


stands to reason - would be silly if you could.

yes really extended ascii characters in folder/file names can be a pain if you're not pointing and clicking about all day long...
