junk phone calls

is there anything worse? (im talking on the mundane, tedious level...not equating it to torture etc)

years ago some fucking book or online directory published our name and details as 'no future management designers'

since then, every junk phone call has asked for that company name. automatically i tell them to remove us from their list. often they are happy to oblige - but i just got one from some mardy bitch who was offended that I didnt want to listen to whatever wank she was saying. she told me to get the name removed from BT myself and put the phone down on me. she was offended that i called her call a 'junk call'

ive done telesales and vastly preferred beiing told quickly to piss off than people listening to your spiel and then saying no. i know its a shit job etc etc but to do it well you need to realise, some people are always going to be angry you rang them. not that i was rude or anything.

she was trying to get me to promote our business on the internet - SO I CAN GET A MILLION MORE JUNK PHONE CALLS.

i need a lie down, im so angry - and plus you cant even contact the wankers to tell them how fuckiing rude they are.

i need to go on 'Room 101' and fast

We had to register with the TPS because the phone used to ring and there would be no one on the end when you answered it. Found out it was some scam that when you did 141 and rang the number back it would charge you £1 a minute.

a disturbing trend i've noticed with junk calls is companies with auto dialing software ringing up a list of numbers then, when you answer, they connect you to one of their operators. this often means you're on the line for 4 or 5 seconds saying 'hello' repeatedly and feeling like a twat. then sometimes, when all their operators are busy, you're just left hanging there. this is my pet hate; that and people who ring up asking to speak to the previous occupants of my flat who moved out almost 2 years ago!

I used to get called by a local double glazing company in Nottingham, after the second call... I'd let the dude speak for a bit, and then I'd cut in, in an excited voice...

"You know, this is really weird because, you know, just the other day, me and my wife were just talking about getting a Conservatory built and we just wandering where to go to get one, so this is quite a timely call on your part.

suprised sounding double glazing dude: "really?"

Me: "Nah, we got a flat on the 3rd floor mate, I'm joshing ya" and put the phone down...

It's the Telephone Preference Service Emma, give them a call and they can stop you from getting junk calls within about 28 days. I've done it at the last two addresses I've been at.

tpsonline is definitely highly recommended.

You can also use http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/ to put a stop to junk mail through your letterbox.

in sweden we got these telemarket-sells people that calls you up and want to sell Obligations over the phone... only thing is that a normal obligation is taxed to 10% and the phone-obligation is somewhere near 60-70%... which is really bad, since they probably sell it to alot of who doesn´t know what a obligation is etc etc.

at least with a junk call you can tell the person to f-off or whatever, we had a junk fax randomly calling our old flat at all hours, great eh, you can't tell a fax machine to f-off beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. it was on redial n'everything.

good old BT sorted it in the end tho, but after telling us to unplug the phone when we "expected to get the call"???

but what you can do is taking a black sheet of paper, pulling it into the fax, pasting the ends together and sending that to that number you got the junkfax from-for hours of course. believe me, if you keep doing it, every time right after they did send you a fax, they will quickly stop that...

just a rude alternative if your phoneprovider can't sort that out.
