What's up with Slsk? - erutufon|nofuture

I had to reformat my hard drive and lost all my apps, so I need to reload Slsk, but when I go to slsk.org, it looks like it's been hijacked by some really dodgy operatives...

don't download ANYTHING or click on any links on slsk.org it's totally dodgy. only use www.slsknet.org

the fact that they sold their domain to dialer crooks make me quite sceptical about the tool. there's a lot of less questionable filesharing-alternatives, but i'm not much into downloading music, so perhaps they're not as good in that area.

I don't think they sold the domain....I believe they actually forgot to renew it and it got hijacked...although I don't really know for sure.

I've been having a problems trying to download it to my mac computer, but this was part of the problem too...I had the wrong domain name...

so thanks for that...now I can get in and ask all my stupid mac questions on how to get slsk to work on a mac...thanks!!...

i thought you can use soulseek with os x. anyhow, with my mac, i used limewire, but its not nearly as good as soulseek.

They forgot to renew their domain name and some dodgy dealers snapped it up quick short. Other interesting Slsk domain facts; this is the second time their domain has been snatched from under their paws after Nir forgot to renew the domain.

it's so long since i first downloaded soulseek i can't remember what my name is on it. i've just started using it a lot - how do i find that out?? it might be something embarassing like cockface crosby

check in your userinfo.cfg, open it with notepad or any text editor and you'll find out. Or if you are using version 152 or later check in the web tab and it'll tell you who you are logged in as. This was added to make donations more or less automatic and to prevent fuckwits going wrong when they donated.

go to VIEW and open the room list...dbl click on a room that has only one person in it. the room will open up and it'll then have 2 people in it, one of whom will be you. if you still don't recognise the names, browse the files to check which is you.

there may be a more simple method but not having it open in front of me I can't check.
