SuperCollider in OSX
Anybody know a decent ETA for SC's port to OSX? The only info I can find is on a very dated web site, but it doesn't seem to have happened yet.
Ohh well, here is to another long wait in making music. |

Supercollider for osx is open source, free and on sourceforge.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/supercollider You can download a pre-compiled version if you don't want to mess about with building the project yourself. I never used sc on os9 but I think that the osx version works differently to the os9 one. There seems to be more separation between the gui / note on + off code and the code to define intruments. Have you done supercollider stuff on os9 in the past? If you have could you give me some tips on what to get started with, right now I'm just managing to make a boring beeping noise. How can I get in to some sequencing stuff? |

Hey, thanx for the info. It appears that page I found was bloody out of date, so the very existence of the osx version was news to me.
Sadly though, I'm an x-csound head and have never touched SC. I've just heard about it through conversations, and been eagerly awaiting the time when I could put it into effect (been a pc person over the last 10+ years , only now have I puchased a mac and it's osx from the get-go). i'm toying with max-msp right now since reaktor isn't in any shape to work well with logic 6, and logic P 6 is sitting in a slightly disused state because reaktor doesn't exist to lend the sampler functionality to my stuff.. so, I figured, In the mean time I could learn max, SC and start talking weird on internet forums for fun and profit. Max, sadly, doesn't have the functionality I need (AU support) and SC is very obtuse. I'll try to post any tutorial links I find though. ![]() |
